With the beginning of his self-proclaimed ‘ Sugar Era,’ Sean O’Malley has had a huge target on his back. He is currently soaring high on his success after claiming the title with a TKO against Aljamain Sterling. The 28-year-old bantamweight champion has even compared his rising success with Conor McGregor. To add to this, his continuous jabs at reigning boxing champions have also grabbed quite the attention, and mixed reactions from the fans.?

In a post-match interview, after claiming that he would hold on to the title till 2035, O’Malley challenged Marlon Vera saying he will ‘whoop Chito’s a** this December in Vegas.’ Following suit with McGregor’s trajectory, the very ambitious O’Malley is also seeking fights outside the UFC in a very peculiar manner. Similar to McGregor’s face-off with Floyd Mayweather, Sugar has been throwing jabs at the likes of Gervonta Davis and Ryan Garcia. Now he seems to have Davin Haney on his radar, and things are heating up.?

O’Malley’s on a frenzy- a fresh jab on ‘The Dream’

Keeping up with his outcries, O’Malley took a fresh jab on Davin Haney. He has repeatedly been calling out boxers, asserting his peak form and that he is here to stay.?Replying to Haneys X post stating ‘Nothing will break me’, O’Malley scoffs, ‘I would’. With a record of 17 wins and a single loss in MMA, O’Malley can be in deep waters given the history of MMA fighters stepping outside their ring. Further, Haney’s comment ?MMA punks haven?t learned yet,? seems to be a blowback to O’Malley indirectly.?

This has gotten the fans to react with some intrigued to see if Haney accepts the challenge. Many have also deemed it ‘O’Malley’s cry for attention’. With the UFC social handle sharing his KO moment on a rare occasion, it seems his ambitions have gotten the best of him.

Going into the championship as an underdog and rising as a champion, O’Malley reveled in his win. He challenged the ‘Tank’, claiming, “Me versus Gervonta, realistically the chances of that happening right now, I’d give it 51%. It’s definitely a possibility.”

He further went on to mock him on an X post by BoxingScene.com, stating a comment from Gervonta Davis’s coach, “Tank Would Whoop Sean O’Malley’s A** in One Round.” O’Malley replied to the post saying, “Lolz dudes 5?2”.

Later during an interview with GQ Sports, he acknowledged Davis and Ryan Garcia as his potential opponents, saying “So, Ryan Garcia, Gervonta Davis, those are two guys I could see myself potentially boxing in five, six years. I truly believe I could beat one of those guys.” ‘King Ry’ responded to O’Malley’s constant callouts, warning him that despite being a good fighter while facing a boxer, Sugar’s winning chances are slim to none. To this, O’Malley clapped back reminding Garcia of his KO match with Davis in April of 2023.

Despite the constant social media banters, a Garcia-O’Malley or a Davis-O’Malley face-off seems unlikely to happen anytime soon. However, O’Malley continues to provoke the boxing champions with his most recent mark on Davin Haney.?
