Conor McGregor and Dana White’s face off with contract extension

Conor Mcgregor’s last fight was in 2021, against Dustin Poirier at UFC 264. The fight left McGregor with a broken leg and he had to step away from the Octagon for quite some time. Now, ‘Mystic Mac’ is itching to make a return, but seems like the UFC admin has some other plans for him. McGregor announced that he would face Michael Chandler during International Fight Week, but White later said he’s hopeful McGregor will return in the fall.

The Irishman, in his most recent confession, asserted that he has only two fights left on his UFC contract. “I’ve got two fights left on my contract. Negotiations are ongoing. When the promotional work of the movie comes to an end, when the St. Patrick’s Day festivities come to an end, its isolation and its focus, and move toward a return to the Octagon.”

Dana White always states that the reason for McGregor’s delay in comeback is rooted in his healthy financial status. However, recent statements by the UFC star seem to have disregarded the CEO’s claim. The Dubliner is the biggest star in the UFC and his fights bring in a large number of eyeballs to the promotion. So, it’s possible that White wants to pen him down to a new contract, which could be delaying his comeback. However, unlike other fighters, ‘The Notorious’ is not out of options. His boxing career might kick-start if MMA doesn’t work out.

Conor McGregor ventured into boxing when he fought Floyd Mayweather back in 2017. It was McGregor’s debut in the boxing realm, and oh boy, what a debut it was! McGregor, despite being a newcomer to the boxing world showcased tremendous skill, but in the end, it was Mayweather who clinched the victory. That fight was McGregor’s first and only foray into boxing so far.

Interestingly, ‘Pac-Man’ is also considering coming out of retirement to fight.

The timing is just perfect for both of them to clash, but it seems like McGregor is waiting for the UFC’s announcement. Nonetheless, apart from fighting, McGregor has also ventured into another lucrative field of entertainment: acting. His debut in Hollywood might open new gates for him. “Right now, not at this time. I’m going to regroup after all this work. I’ll leave it to the professionals. It’s hard work. It was very hard work. After [my fight], maybe next year or something, I do not know — I will not say never because I had such a great time, and I met some friends for life here, and I enjoyed the process. Even Amazon has been absolutely amazing to work with. Who knows what the future holds for sure in this industry?”

Conor McGregor’s life has taken a jump from MMA to boxing to acting. However, where will he make the final stand now? What are your thoughts on McGregor’s current position?
