There is a real possibility that the dream of Francis Ngannou to compete in a boxing match could come to fruition. ‘The Schmo’ recently former world champion Deontay Wilder during a charity golf tournament as he discussed his appearance at PFL 4 and the negotiations for his fight against ‘The Predator’.

The discussions for a 2-fight deal between Wilder and Ngannou are in progress. While one match will be a boxing fight, the other will be a fight taking place inside an MMA cage. ‘The Schmo’ caught up with ‘The Bronze Bomber’ at his annual charity golf tournament, through which he raises money for prostate cancer, and asked about Francis Ngannou’s potential fight.

Deontay Wilder about his PFL 4 appearance

During the recent interview with ‘The Schmo’, Deontay Wilder commented on Francis Ngannou’s absence at PFL 4. He claims that ‘The Predator’ is aware of the talks going on about the fight and its terms. ‘The Bronze Bomber’ said, He knows what the deal is. Francis, you hear me? You know what’s up.” 

Wilder also mentioned the reason behind his appearance at the PFL’s June 8th event. He claims to have had some business with some of the promotion’s executives and also wanted to enjoy some action inside the SmartCage. “I was at the PFL to enjoy some fighting, to shake a couple of hands with a couple of people, and talk business as well,” said the former champion.

Wilder wants to make his fight against Francis Ngannou a reality

The former WBC heavyweight champion claims that people have often asked him about Francis Ngannou and the timeline for their fight. He said, “Francis is one of those names that definitely came up and that keeps coming up.” It has seemingly become one of the most anticipated crossover boxing fights as of late.

Furthermore, Wilder mentioned how serious he was about making the fight a reality. The problem, right now, is the schedule that both fighters have on their hands. ‘The Bronze Bomber’ added, “Hopefully we can get something on the schedule in the near future that we can present to the people and make this fight become a reality.”

There is a possibility that fans might get to witness these two fighters get in the squared circle and go head-to-head. However, there are some people who have expressed their concern regarding the two-fight deal. UFC Hall of Famer Michael Bisping believes that if Ngannou and Wilder box first, ‘ The Bronze Bomber’ may not want to get inside the MMA cage later. We will have to wait and see what pans out for the two heavyweights in the not-so-distant future.
