Ryan Garcia and Devin Haney’s fight is on but there’s a massive twist in their faceoff. What was supposed to be a title fight for Garcia has now turned into a normal fight as ‘King Ry’ spectacularly failed to make weight for the fight. Their fight was supposed to be cancelled but the promoters decided to let the ship sail. On the other hand, Garcia seems to be unapologetic in his stance, which got the reaction of his friend, Conor McGregor.

Despite missing weight, Garcia grabbed a bottle of alcoholic beverage and chugged it in front of the entire audience. The reaction was somewhat peculiar, seeming to garner appreciation from Conor McGregor towards the young boxer. Let’s see what the fuss is about.

Ryan Garcia and Conor McGregor have been on good terms for a long time now. The former dual-weight champion looks at Garcia as the new face of boxing. After Garcia’s loss to Gervonta Davis, McGregor had a conversation with ‘King Ry’ where he uplifted the morals of the new-gen boxer. “I want to see it again now, and I want to see it with no rehydration clause – seriously. All the respect in the world to you. You’re the future, you’re the future of this game, and I’m going to watch you all the way,” said McGregor.

Nonetheless, seems like Garcia got some motivation from McGregor, as after his weight miss, ‘King Ry’ was totally unapologetic in his doings. He chugged a beer and stated, “I was drinking a nice ass beer, that shit was the fire. I did my best to make this weight. I put myself through hell.” Conor Mcgregor on the other hand, took his Instagram handle to add a comment to Garcia’s antics.

“My man!” wrote McGregor in response to Garcia drinking the beer live on stage. According to the reports, Garcia missed the weight by a massive 3.2lbs above the division limit. The young boxer has relinquished his title fight. In simpler words, Garcia will not be given Devin Haney‘s WBC title if he wins the match. In addition to that, Garcia promised Haney that he would be paying $500000 pay for every weight missed, and seems like he is going to honor it.

Their fight is bout to go down on Saturday’s bout at Brooklyn’s Barclays Center to be staged as a non-title bout. Garcia’s antics were scary but it made Haney more resolute to make sure that he got the win no matter what.

Devin Haney is more motivated now

Ryan Garcia and Devin Haney have been on bad terms for quite some time now and their fight was inevitable, but the fight fans expected a little bit more professionalism than this from them. Garcia’s weight miss and on-stage antics after his mental health episode seem to be acting against ‘King Ry’. However, the champ seems to be more motivated to send Garica to the canvas than ever before.

While talking to the media, Haney stated that this fight might not be easy, but it is what he wanted from them. “This is not an easy fight but this is a fight that I will make look easy. Through all the antics, through everything, I kept my blinders on. I stayed focused, I had my tunnel vision and on Saturday it will show. All his antics and all the stuff that he’s been doing will betray him and it will show.”

Initially, their rivalry was well respected, but now it has turned dirty. Nonetheless, the title bout has been canceled. Haney must win, or else the WBC title will be vacated. Nonetheless, who do you think would emerge victorious in their bout? State your thoughts in the comments below.
