Although ‘Iron Mike’ isn’t an easy out, it seems as though Roy Jones Jr has a general sense for what’s next. Roy Jones Jr. vs Anderson Silva?

It has seemingly become increasingly common to entertain the idea of crossover match-ups ever since Conor McGregor and Floyd Mayweather boxed. The two opened the door to new avenues that keep the combat sports fans guessing. However, very few could have predicted that Anderson Silva and Roy Jones could possibly compete so far out of their primes.

‘The Spider’ recently fought his final fight in UFC against Uriah Hall back on October 31, 2020. The Brazilian icon was stopped by strikes in the fourth round, and UFC President Dana White was quick to shut-down a contract renewal for Silva. Additionally, ‘The Spider’ couldn’t fight out the final bout on his contract.

Last week, news broke the Anderson Silva was no longer under the UFC’s extensive roster. Chiefly, this came out as a jarring reality for fight fans. The 45-year-old has been a company staple for as long as memory permits. Silva has helped to shape the sport in more ways than one. Moreover, it was hard to see Bellator MMA passing on the Brazilian as well.

However, it would seem as though ‘The Spider’ still has options within the fabric of the fight game. A boxing match against Roy Jones Jr. could be more lucrative than any available MMA match-up at the moment. However, Jones Jr. will have to get past Mike Tyson on November 28, 2020, in order to bring the aforementioned crossover spectacle to fruition.
