Jon Jones is regarded as one of the best fighters to enter the UFC Octagon. Many fighters and fans wish to be like him and have idealized him for years. But if you wonder who, Jones takes inspiration from, then that question was answered by Bones himself. The former UFC light-heavyweight champion had said that he got a lot to learn from the career of Conor McGregor, who changed the MMA world forever.

Jones fought his arch-nemesis, Daniel Cormier, in their rematch at UFC 214. During the post-fight press conference, Jon Jones stated that he takes huge inspiration from Conor McGregor and feels motivated by the standards set by McGregor.
“A guy like Conor McGregor, he has been a tremendous inspiration to me,” Jones said during the post-fight presser. “He has shown me, who has been at the upper echelon of this sport for many years now, he has shown me that these huge paydays are possible. I never thought in my time as champion, fighter, that we would be able to see fighters making $70 million, $100 million or whatever he’s making for this Mayweather fight,” stated Jones.
How Has Conor McGregor Inspired Everyone?
Over the years, Conor McGregor has had his shares of ups and down, but even his fellow great fighters have learned a few things from him. Conor defeated Jose Aldo to win the featherweight title. In addition to that, he went on to defeat Eddie Alvarez for the lightweight title.

Conor McGregor left MMA for a while and went on to box Floyd Mayweather. The fight was a multi-million dollar match. McGregor reportedly made around $100 million for that fight.

Jon Jones feels that such things set a standard for the rest of the fights. Jones stated that he takes inspiration from such things and plans to do the same.
“It’s an inspiration that you can do it. It’s like, the first guy to go to the moon, now everyone wants to go to the moon. Or run the five minute mile, now they see it’s possible. I see it as possible, and that’s what McGregor has done for me,” Jones said.

The greatest UFC light-heavyweight champion, Jon Jones, vacated his title in 2019. He stated that he wants to move up to the heavyweight division. Meanwhile, the UFC has been trying hard to set up a fight between Jon Jones and Francis Ngannou, but that hasn’t come to fruition yet.
