Dana White’s boxing venture is underway, as he gears up for the Canelo Alvarez vs Terence Crawford fight, which he’s co-promoting. The UFC CEO has already revealed his plans to create a similar competition for boxers, just like the Contender Series for MMA fighters. Now, the 56-year-old revealed that he’s looking forward to fixing one of the most glaring issues in boxing, which is also prevalent in the UFC.

“There are guys who come off the Contender Series, who’ve made millions and millions of dollars already, where nobody knew who they were. We built them up, and they now make millions and millions of dollars. So, I will do the same thing in the boxing business,” Dana White recently told Wade Plemons, claiming that Zuffa Boxing is going to present the same opportunities to fighters similar to the UFC. But that’s not all, as the CEO claims he wants to make people care about the fights they put up.
Yes, Dana White has not only promised but ‘guaranteed’ boxing fans that every matchup on a boxing card, and not just the main event, will be worth watching. Well, he’s just entered the boxing world and is well aware of the challenges. So, White claims he’s not being “arrogant,” but he has a vision for the boxing promotion, and that involves it being different from the other promotions that already exist in this space.

“This is what I will guarantee you I will do… I am going to, within the next couple of years, we’ll have people tuning in to all the fights. From the first fight of the night till the end, consistently, like the UFC,” Dana White added. “That is definitely unique. It hasn’t been done. You don’t have any of these promoters where people are tuning in for the first fight of the night.”
Well, when we take a look at the upcoming UFC Noche, we can see that, other than the main event, there are a lot of faces on the card that fans don’t necessarily know. Dana White has built up many fighters in the UFC, but not to the extent that some may think. The CEO is promising to fix the issue of people not taking an interest in undercard boxing matches. However, despite his betst efforts he’s not been able to fix that in the UFC completely. Yes, there are the odd moments when even certain celebrities, like Theo Von, will sit from the beginning of the prelims card to the end of the event.

And then, there are certain international crowds, like the French UFC fans, who always keep their energy up and running in almost every fight. But when it comes to the bigger picture, the UFC still struggles to make fans care about the undercard matches and relies too much on the main events. We’ll have to wait and see if Dana White can really get rid of the problems in boxing that he hasn’t been able to in the UFC. Meanwhile, White has also revealed that his ambition in boxing is to create a league similar to the NFL or NBA.
Dana White wants to create a big league in boxing
Unlike in MMA, where you have a fighting league like the UFC and PFL, boxing has never had such a system since the early days. But that’s exactly what Dana White has in mind. He has been looking at the rise of the NFL and the NBA, and he wants to replicate that in boxing. “This is how you build an NFL or NBA. This is how it’s done. I feel like we’re starting from scratch now with boxing. I believe we can do it again,” White told the Ring Magazine.
