A major blunder took place tonight at UFC 306, and we are not talking about pitting Merab Dvalishvili against Sean O’Malley. While the major stylistic clash that led to Dvalishvili getting crowned the new bantamweight champion in a one-sided bout did look embarrassing to fans of ‘Suga’, things were more awkward when the commentators confused Terence Crawford with Kendrick Lamar. For the unaware, Crawford is an American boxer who has held multiple world championships throughout his career, whereas Kendrick Lamar is an American rapper.

The blunder occurred when Crawford was sitting cageside with HE Turki Alalshikh as the commentators talked about the historic arena of the night, the LA sphere. So when the camera next panned to their seats, the commentator called Crawford “Kendrick Lamar,” while the label read the same. This was truly an embarrassing moment that was called out by the press in the post-event press conference as they asked White about what happened there. To which White embarrassingly replied, “He did kind of look like Kendrick Lamar.” Well, definitely not the answer fans would’ve expected.

As soon as the moment occurred, many fans were quick to call out the UFC. In fact, even former champion Aljamain Sterling too jumped in on the wagon as he joked on Twitter by writing, “Terance Crawford evolved into Kendrick Lamar tonight.” As for the response, Crawford did take it in a good light by sharing the screenshot of the moment and writing “Damn Kendrick Lamar” with two smiley emojis. However, this surely would’ve been a moment loved by Ryan Garcia, the next opponent whom Crawford would be facing as announced just moments ago.

Crawford to take revenge for another humiliation

While the American boxer took the blunder by the UFC in a sporting way, the same cannot be said about the comments made by Ryan Garcia. The Californian boxer expressed his current opinion on Terence Crawford through his statements on social media that have generated a great debate among fans since Crawford is considered one of the best in all weights. During a live broadcast on Instagram, Garcia stated that “Terence Crawford is overrated.” A statement that sparked a lot of debate among fans.

Garcia did not skip through questioning Crawford’s abilities, something that truly irked the 36-year-old. As a result, the two have now been booked to fight at Cinco de Mayo (5th of May) in 2025. A fight that was announced by none other than boxing promoter and former boxer, Oscar De La Hoya. Surely this would be the opportunity where Crawford would want to truly take revenge for the embarrassment.
