Shocking, isn’t it? Despite Canelo Alvarez securing a unanimous decision win over the towering William Scull to once again reign as the undisputed super middleweight king, the reactions to the performance paint a grim picture. Alvarez may have tasted the sweet nectar of victory, but some say he lost the bigger battle. Why? According to an insider, navigating Terence Crawford could prove to be a nightmare for the Mexican legend.

If every piece of the puzzle is put in its perfect place, a super-fight between Terence Crawford and Canelo Alvarez will happen in September. The much-anticipated fight between two of the biggest stars in the boxing realm has been hanging for long, but this year things might change for the good; however, William Scull has drawn a grim picture for the Mexican.

Alvarez was the fan favorite to win the fight, and while he did secure the victory, his performance against Scull did not match the standard of his past outings. Many believe the judges gifted him the win, awarding him a unanimous decision with scores of 115-113, 116-112, and 119-109. Dana White’s close associate, Kevin Iole, witnessed the fight and all he had to say is, “The more I watch this, the more I like @terencecrawford in September.”

In a series of X posts, Iole expressed his disappointment in Canelo Alvarez’s performance, “Canelo up 107-102 after 11. Bad performance by both. Canelo 117-111, but it was an awful fight.”  For those wondering how Iole is close to White, let me remind you that the two have known each other since the 1990s, back when Iole first met White while he was living in Las Vegas: “I met him in the 90s. He lived in Vegas, went away for a while and then when he came back. So I don’t remember how old he was but he was maybe 21

Well, let us get back to the topic, as Iole expressed his disappointment, Jed I. Goodman seemingly confirmed the date of the official clash between Alvarez and Crawford. Uploading a photo of their face-off, Goodman writes, “Crawford vs Canelo Sept 12.” It is evident that the Alvarez-Scull clash lacked some serious fireworks. But the moment the decision was announced, all eyes shifted to what’s next for the middleweight king, as the fans waited in calm, the promotion proposed the blockbuster showdown between Canelo Álvarez and Terence Crawford on 12 September.

As the fight was announced, it caught the attention of everyone across the combat sports realm, and Jake Paul really showed the mirror to the boxing superstar.

Jake Paul gives Canelo Alvarez a grim reminder of his fighting career

Canelo Alvarez was fighting for the first time outside the US or Mexico. The boxing superstar had to adapt quickly, from the time zone to the early-morning ring walk — the fighters entered at 6:20 am local time in Riyadh (11:20 pm ET), perfectly timed for US prime-time viewers. Alvarez has seldom fought at such a timezone, and it was evident that his body didn’t adapt to the toll.

The battle between the boxing stars started with a crawl. Both men tested their ranges; however, while Scull jerked with volume, he failed to connect meaningful shots at the Mexican. On the other hand, Álvarez was calm and calculated as he dug in heavy body shots that told the real story. What was Scull’s response to Alvarez’s calmness? It’s menacing chaos. William danced, dodged, and made it messy, which clearly irritated the Mexican star. Well, in the end, it was Alvarez who claimed the victory, but his win was not that much of a celebration for him, as his former opponent, Jake Paul, reminded him about his grave future.

After being left out in the cold by Canelo earlier this year, Jake Paul hasn’t missed a chance to fire back at the Mexican superstar. True to form, ‘The Problem Child’ kept the jabs coming after the latest fight, bluntly calling it “Embarrassing.” But let’s be real—the blame doesn’t fall on Canelo alone. Scull had his fair share of responsibility in that underwhelming display.

Regardless, with Canelo Alvarez vs. Terence Crawford becoming official, what do you think would happen when they finally clash? State your opinion in the comments below.
