Francis Ngannou has announced his first fight in his post-UFC career. He will be taking on Deontay Wilder after the former boxing champion issued a challenge of two fights, boxing, and MMA. The whole exchange was done on social media. Moreover, ex-UFC star Chael Sonnen has added his thoughts on Wilder’s two-fight deal.

Francis Ngannou has been pretty vocal about wanting to box since his departure from the UFC. He initially wanted to fight ‘The Gypsy King’ Tyson Fury. But Deontay Wilder swooped in with a two-fight boxing and MMA proposal.

However, Chael Sonnen believes that Deontay Wilder was not just looking for a fight, he was looking for a job. ‘The American Gangster’ claims that ‘The Bronze Bomber’ saw what Jake Paul was doing and tried to replicate that and earn two paychecks. But Sonnen claims that nobody wants to work with Deontay Wilder.

Chael Sonnen claims Deontay Wilder is not loyal

The former UFC fighter claims that the main objective of Deontay Wilder was to get two paychecks in one agreement. However, there was a catch. Sonnen mentions his free-agent status and said, “Guys always think that’s [free-agent status] going to be a positive. No one wants that guy [Wilder].” He added, “There is no promoter that wants to work with a guy that has a loyalty to no one.”

Sonnen also mentions the issue of being a free agent. He said, “There are very few guys that find themselves in this free agency (and) they think they are sought-after. They are not sought after, they are the ones with leprosy. That’s the one no one wants.” Sonnen claims that these kinds of free agents have no loyalty and that’s the reason why no promoters want to work with Wilder.

Chael Sonnen is clearly not a huge fan of the idea of a boxing and MMA fight between Francis Ngannou and Deontay Wilder. He even earlier claimed that ‘The Bronze Bomber’ was a coward for choosing to box first and do MMA later. The former boxing world champion has not competed in a fight this year. Wilder is yet to break his duck. He mentioned that he became an “open agent” and wanted to take full control of his career moving ahead.
