Despite Conor McGregor’s Affirmation, Manny Pacquiao Avoids Fighting the UFC Star and Confirms Return Against Another World Champion- “Working on It”

Manny Pacquiao and Conor McGregor were both present at the ‘Battle of the Baddest’ in Riyadh. The fight between Tyson Fury and Francis Ngannou was studded with star power. Notable figures from all across the globe made their way to the fight to witness the spectacle. Eminem, Cristiano Ronaldo, Chuck Liddell, and Mike Tyson were all present at the event.

However, Pacquiao made an interesting statement that has caught the attention of combat sports fans. The boxing legend has confirmed that he is looking to make a return to the ring. But with previous reports of his and McGregor’s negotiation for a fight, Pacquiao’s statements may have shut the door for another massive crossover fight. Nevertheless, boxing enthusiasts will find his choice of opponent for his comeback interesting!

Manny Pacquiao denies Conor McGregor’s hopes for another crossover bout

The fight between Tyson Fury and Francis Ngannou was one of the most anticipated sports events of the year. Ngannou, the former UFC heavyweight champion was making his professional boxing debut in the bout. Fury, the WBC heavyweight champion wasn’t defending his title in the fight, but the result would reflect on both men’s records. A controversial decision loss for Ngannou in the fight stirred an uproar in the community regarding the scoring of the match.

Manny Pacquiao also attended the event and, in a pre-fight interview, he chose Tyson Fury as the winner. He also stated that he is looking to make a return to the boxing ring soon. Pacquiao hasn’t fought since 2021 when he suffered a loss at the hands of Yordenis Ugas.

Conor McGregor had also stated in the past that he would like to fight Pacquiao. But he will have to wait as the boxing legend has now stated that he is working on a comeback fight against another boxer instead. In an interview, Pacquiao was asked to respond to Amir Khan’s claims that he will be fighting Pacquiao in the future.

Pacquiao responded by stating, “We’re working on it, we’re looking at that, hoping that will be possible. I hope the fight is going to be here in Saudi.”

The statement indicates that a fight against McGregor isn’t on the cards for Pacquiao anytime soon. However, the two men have a history that would have added an extra element to their bout!

Pacquiao responded to McGregor’s threats with humor

Conor McGregor, in a now-deleted post on Twitter/X, claimed that he was owed money due to a fight deal with Pacquiao falling through. McGregor stated that Pacquiao’s team owes him $8 million from legal proceedings involving the botched deal.

The Irishman who is known for his online tirades stated in the deleted audio note, “Are you stupid, Manny? I’ll kick you in the head, in the neck, the inside leg, and take you off your feet and drag you by your ankle across the stage.”

Despite McGregor’s words against the boxing legend, Pacquiao had a calm and humorous response to the threats and accusations. In an interview with Mike Bohn, Pacquiao was asked his thoughts on McGregor’s statements. He responded with a laugh by stating, “Oh, he’s not active anymore!”

It remains to be seen if the cross-over fight does happen in the future. But for now, boxing fans will be looking forward to seeing the boxing legend return to his winning ways inside the ring.
