Ever since Francis Ngannou walked out of the UFC to join the PFL, he has been a high-value combat athlete who everyone wants to see on an important fight card. Recent confirmation by Eddie Hearn sets the fighter against WBC champion Tyson Fury.

The Gypsy King is an indomitable force in the boxing ring and Ngannou, as many believe, would be a befitting challenge. However, this is disappointing news for UFC President Dana White, who had other plans that involved pitting Fury against Heavyweight champion, Jon Jones.

Tyson Fury sends Dana White’s plans down the drain

The UFC president is well-known for creating masterful fight cards. Be it within the promotion or across promotions – Dana White is responsible for having created some of the most memorable fights in MMA. After Tyson Fury and Jon Jones started their exchange online, rumors surfaced that suggested that Jon Jones would be facing Tyson Fury. However, as British promoter Eddie Hearn revealed in his latest interview, The Gypsy King has other plans.

The interviewer asked Hearn what he thought of the rumor that Tyson Fury’s next opponent will be Francis Ngannou.

Yes, I believe so. This is what I’ve heard. It would be an exhibition“, clarified Hearn. The interviewer was taken aback when an ‘exhibition match’ was mentioned, leading him to ask Eddie Hearn if it was really the case.

Apparently. No knockdowns or anything… I don’t know… I’m only telling you what I’ve heard. Who knows what’s what. But, I think that is apparently what is going to be the next fight. Disappointing, but it is what it is.” replied Hearn, visibly dissatisfied with the fight card.

Talking about the impact this could have on Tyson Fury’s career and on the world of boxing, Eddie Hearn added, “A big event, you know. But I wanted to see – I wanted to see him fight Usyk (Oleksandr Usyk). I feel like that undisputed championship – I mean we chased it for so long, you know. It’d be nice to get an undisputed champion but look. Tyson’s in charge of his own career and I’m sure he’s gonna make a load of money and good luck to him.”

Everyone Wants to Fight Everyone: the Fury-Jones-Ngannou knot

Fighters are always looking for a reason to call out other fighters and prove their dominance. UFC commentator and podcast host Joe Rogan picked Jon Jones as a clear winner when discussing who would win in an all-out brawl between Tyson Fury and the UFC HW champion. Fury didn’t take it well and slammed Rogan. This led to Jones coming to Rogan’s aid and starting a social media feud with the WBC champion himself. The two were ready to go at it but from the looks of it, Fury has other plans.

Former UFC HW champ Ngannou was stripped of his title when he moved to the PFL, right before Jones made his much-awaited return to the Octagon and quickly became the HW champion. Ngannou and Jones were also rumored to be slated in a fight against each other but that fell through as well. The two recently met at an event in PFL but there have been no official developments.
