Others seemed uninterested, already knowing the fact that Mayweather is crazy rich.

A follower wrote “Floyd we know you are rich, we don’t care. Use your card and keep the line moving.”

Some of DailyLouds’ audiences seemed disgusted at the incident and tweeted things like, “Just pay on card man and stop showing off” and “Nobody really rich and who doesn’t want clout pays in cash. They have black cards or similar with no limits. This guy is such an attention seeker it’s boring.”

A couple of followers chose to hit upon ‘Money’ Mayweather and 50 Cent’s sweet-turned-bitter relationship. The first one tweeted “50 cent finna have a field day”.

While the other one seemed to mock Mayweather’s ignorance despite being rich, his tweet read Remember when 50 Cent asked him to read 1 page of a Harry Potter book”. He ended with a few smiling emojis, which clearly implied his mocking tone.

Why did Mayweather receive such a backlash?

The ‘still unbeaten’ in professional boxing went on to accept the UFC superstar, Conor McGregor‘s challenge in 2017. Mayweather scored a knockout victory over McGregor in the tenth round of the bout. The chants to the rematch of that fight are now being heard loud and clear, with even Floyd Mayweather up for it.

A majority of the fans, mostly MMA, seem unhappy with Mayweather. ‘Money’ planning to fight ‘Mystic Mac’ in the boxing ring once again. A majority of the fans feel, this time Mayweather should face McGregor in the MMA octagon and have criticized him for not doing the same.

Why do you think the fans turned against Mayweather so badly? Was it really just over this video?

My interest in combat sports began watching scripted pro wrestling shows. It was my father who directed me towards combat sports and it wasn’t until the late 2010s that I discovered the world of MMA and the UFC. Like many of you, I too, tuned in for the infamous Nurmagomedov vs. McGregor bout live on October 6, 2018. Being an ardent fan of the UFC (and Dustin ‘The Diamond’ Poirier), I was always looking to have conversations about the same with others. But to my disappointment, I hardly found any followers of the sports to interact with. So I took it upon myself to do my part in popularizing the thrill and the agony behind the purest form of unarmed combat. At EssentiallySports, I try to bring the readers closer to the athletes and focus my coverage on exploring the human side of these martial artists. I’m a musician during my time free from reporting MMA. I operate as the lead vocalist of a rock band that aims to make their mark among the audiences with their original alternative-hard rock songs.
