Jorge Masvidal would live to venture deep into boxing

Jorge Masvidal was released from the promotion after his bout against Gilbert Burns. What many people know is the fact that Masvidal has been dropped from UFC but what very few people understand is the fact that Masvidal still has a continuing contract with the promotion and he has been released to fight outside the banner. Yes, you heard that right, ‘Gamebred’ is not plummeted by Dana White.

The same goes for Nate Diaz as well. If they both want to fight in the UFC, their fight will be scheduled. Interestingly, Nate Diaz has even stated that they should fight in MMA after their boxing bout. However, Masvidal has some different plans. In an interview with Michael Bisping, Masvidal emphasized that he would like to fight Floyd Mayweather and Logan Paul in the future.

“I’m thinking, uh, Floyd Mayweather and Logan Paul. That’s what I’m thinking; that’s what my people are thinking, trying to do. And, um, those matches that you mentioned right there—great fighters, you know, they’re great fighters. Um, so I wouldn’t mind those matches,” said Masvidal.

Despite it being his debut in boxing, Jorge Masvidal is looking to venture deeply into the sport. However, this doesn’t mean that he has completely forsaken his MMA career. In his conversation with Bisping, he emphasized his willingness to get back to his MMA roots.

‘GameBred’ has a plan for his UFC return

Jorge Masvidal admitted that he is still in contract with the promotion despite being fighting outside of the promotion. Maybe this is one of the reasons why his boxing debut will be streamed at the UFC fight pass. Well, according to Masvidal, he has been allowed by the promotion to fight three times outside of the promotion.

So what’s after that? Will he be back in the UFC? The answer is a big yes. “(After these three fights) back to the UFC. The UFC said one of the conditions is that I come back and do one (more) fight, so that’s the plan, come back definitely do another fight and from there, check the landscape out, see if I’m staying in the UFC or more than likely I’ll be coming back to boxing.”
