The last year saw Gervonta Davis scoring a massive win over Ryan Garcia in the seventh round with a body shot to the latter’s right abdomen. Though ‘Tank’ is being appreciated for his conduct in the match, some are also crediting his success to the rehydration clause. The boxers agreed to a catchweight limit of 136 pounds during their fight on April 22, 2023. However, according to the rehydration clause proposed by Davis’ team, the fighters could only add back 10 pounds after their official weigh-ins.

Joe Rogan recently hosted current BMF champion Max Holloway on his podcast ‘Joe Rogan Experience’ and the two hailed Floyd Mayweather Jr. as the reason behind the ‘rehydration’ clause.

Davis has been recently in the news for his feud with Floyd Mayweather Jr. The former boxing legend is currently being held in Dubai over some money issues. The 29-year-old in his recent social media post clarified that the former champion was held against his wish for not fulfilling his obligations. Amidst the rivalry, Rogan and Holloway credited Mayweather Jr. for the rehydration clause in the Davis vs Garcia battle.

In the #155 episode of his JRE MMA Show, Rogan shared his opinion on the clause, saying, “How smart is Gervonta for making him go to 135 and then giving him a weight clause. You can’t rehydrate more than 10 pounds. And for Gervonta it was perfect.” Adding to Rogan’s comments, Holloway said, “Who is behind him? Who is behind him, brother? The money Mayweather that guy is smart bro. That guy is a business man. These guys are businessman you know. Like it is the same thing.”

‘King Ryan’ has already called out ‘Tank’ for a rematch in his recent X post but with a specific condition. Garcia tweeted, “Everyone wanna talk about the little Stupid tank,” Let’s fight, [enough] of that funny talk. Come see me at 144[lbs] and [let’s] stop the talk.” While it would be interesting to see the two fighters taking on each other once again, Davis is currently busy fueling his rivalry with Floyd Mayweather Jr. And now Chael Sonnen has also jumped on the bandwagon.

Chael Sonnen offers his help to Floyd Mayweather Jr.

Gervonta Davis and Floyd Mayweather Jr. were inseparable at one point in their lives. However, things took a completely new turn two years ago after ‘Tank’ left Mayweather’s promotion. According to the 29-year-old, the promotion was ‘mismanaging’ his career. Since then, the pair has been involved in a lot of social media brawls without any love lost between them. The WBA lightweight champion recently took to his X account and shared the news of Mayweather being held captive in Dubai. He tweeted, “They got Floyd a** for real..tell him I’ll send him a wire..LET MY F***ING FAMILY GO 🗣️,”.

The tweet immediately got a response from one of Mayweather Jr.’s long-time critics Chael Sonnen. Sonnen responded in his style and replied, “How can I help?”. ‘The American Gangster’ has always been critical of the former champion. He has time and again pointed out the flaws in his lifestyle and has openly criticized him for making unnecessary expenses. However, this time around it seems that the 50-0 boxer has landed himself in massive trouble. If the ‘Tank’ is right in his claims then Mayweather Jr. will need some help.
