The drama that encircled Francis Ngannou’s departure from the UFC is well-known to most fans. After his exit, ‘The Predator’ started disclosing the numerous points of discontent that he had with the UFC’s ways. It won’t be wrong to say that those revelations startled a large part of the UFC community. The noted former UFC heavyweight champ also took a trip down memory lane and talked about his UFC-related hardships during his last visit to Joe Rogan’s famous podcast, ‘The Joe Rogan Experience’.
Things weren’t easy for Ngannou even after quitting Dana White’s promotion. Most fans may know that the Cameroonian will lock horns against the undefeated WBC heavyweight king, Tyson Fury, on 28 October in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. This touted boxing match will also fulfill his dream of competing in a boxing ring that had him leaving his homeland one day. However, during his appearance on ‘JRE,’ he disclosed that he had to go through multiple challenges in order to secure this fight as well.

Francis Ngannou reveals the tactics used by boxing promoters
It was Joe Rogan’s UFC post-fight interview-like questions that had Ngannou revealing how his post-UFC days were also pretty tough. The stand-up comic also asked Ngannou to describe the process of getting his fight fixed against Fury. This is exactly where ‘The Predator’ revealed how boxing promoters often complicate the process of the materialization of a boxing match.
Many fans and pros accused Ngannou of ‘fumbling the bag’ when he turned down a supposedly lucrative contract from the UFC and failed to sign with other leading promotions before eventually inking a deal with PFL. His boxing aspirations did not look like they were taking off either for a brief period.
Ngannou replied to the ‘JRE’ host stating, “You know, it wasn’t just easy because of the boxing promotions. The boxing world is a little weird”. He continued, “It’s a different animal”. However, Rogan asked him to elaborate on the issue further, which had Ngannou revealing a lot more.
‘The Predator’ revealed the working principle of most boxing promotions, stating, “They say, ‘this guy from this promotion, fighting this guy from this promotion. Who has the better position? Who is getting what?’ How they put things, I would not say manipulate. But let it be like this. Everybody trying to adjust things for his own benefit”.
The lifelong martial artist, Rogan, also has quite some knowledge about the world of boxing. He agreed to Ngannou’s words and also implied that these negotiations ultimately make the fight tougher to happen.
