Fighters moving from MMA to boxing is not a new phenomenon. Even Nate Diaz has recently announced his boxing debut against Jake Paul. Moreover, Francis Ngannou, the former UFC heavyweight champion, may be the next fighter to make the switch.

Last year, Ngannou had contract disputes with the UFC, which led to his departure from the promotion. Since then, he has been a free agent, exploring opportunities in both MMA and boxing. According to Betonline.ag, Recently, Floyd Mayweather expressed his interest in signing Ngannou to Mayweather Promotions. Mayweather praised Ngannou‘s boxing skills and suggested that he could take on some of the top heavyweight boxers.

“I would love to work with Ngannou. I would love to sign him to Mayweather promotions. He’s a very skilled guy and if he wants to fight one of the top heavyweight guys, he should do it.”

Francis Ngannou’s UFC career
Ngannou‘s UFC career has been impressive, with his knockout power making him a fan favorite. He earned his first shot at the heavyweight title by defeating the likes of Alistair Overeem in 2017. However, he lost the fight to Stipe Miocic. Ngannou came back to winning ways and 4 straight fights from 2018 to 2020 to challenge for the title again at UFC 260.
