Mike Tyson was one of the most iconic athletes of all time. He gained recognition for his tremendous power, technique, and dedication to boxing. But that was not the only thing that made him famous. The unpredictability and extreme violence of ‘Iron Mike’ made him one of the most fearsome boxers in history. But he once told Joe Rogan that he didn’t like to talk about his past anymore.

Mike Tyson told Joe Rogan that he left his past behind

The former 6-time boxing champion is nothing like he was during the peak of his professional career. He carried a ferocious attitude that scared many people from approaching him. Tyson carried a bone-chilling aura whenever he made his way to the ring before a fight. The fear that he instilled in his opponents due to his intimating personality mixed with tremendous skills propelled him to greatness in the squared circle.

However, during an appearance on the million-dollar ‘Joe Rogan Experience’ podcast, Mike Tyson mentioned how he started a new chapter in his life. For him to achieve that, Tyson had to forget the past. He said, “In order to arrive at that next chapter in life, you have to forget the chapter that came before you and focus on the chapter ahead of you.”

JRE host believes that Tyson’s message can help people in need

Joe Rogan is perhaps one of the most influential people alive right now. However, just like most people, he also looked up to some of his own inspirational figures growing up. Rogan was also a fan of Mike Tyson when he was young. He believes people will resonate more with the message about turning over a new leaf if it comes from someone of Mike Tyson’s stature.

The 55-year-old said, “That’s a great lesson. And coming from you, that lesson, I think is going to hit home with a lot of people.” Mike Tyson wasn’t really sure if that was the case and replied, “You think So?” But Rogan maintained his stance and reaffirmed the youngest heavyweight champion. He added, “Yes, 100 percent. Because you accomplished so much, because you were the youngest heavyweight champion of all time [and] because you’re the ‘Baddest Man on the Planet’. This big hero for a lot of people like me when I was growing up to see you now [and] say, ‘That’s then. I am done.'”

Mike Tyson has become much calmer and level-headed than he was in the past. However, he still carries the aura of intimidation to this day. Even though he’s 56 years old, he remains fit and healthy and is one of the most respected personalities in the sporting community as a whole.
