In the history of Combat Sports, fans sometimes remember fights for how great they were or for how weird they were. While there have been a lot of glorious fights, the latter has had no shortage in the history of combat sports. Recently, on an episode of his podcast, UFC color commentator Joe Rogan spoke of one such weird fight.

Speaking of the Floyd Mayweather Jr vs Victor Ortiz fight, Rogan said, “That fight with Floyd Mayweather was one of the weirdest fights ever. He head-butted him and then he tried to apologize. And Floyd said yeah yeah yeah, boom! Dropped him with a left hook…and then stopped him.”

Seeing the fight between Mayweather and Ortiz, Rogan said, “So, here it is. So this is when Victor Ortiz is in his prime. And you know, it was a good f****ng fight. I mean, he had tagged Floyd, and look at that. There is the head-butt. And then look at this, I am sorry, I am sorry. And then he hugs him. He kisses him.”

And they take a point away from him. He touches gloves like I am sorry, I got carried away…Boom, Bang! That was crazy…Defend yourself at all times, like he thought that they were going to like be friends and then you just get stopped like that.”

While Rogan labels the fight between Mayweather and Ortiz as one of the weirdest fights he has seen, The legendary commentator has been very complimentary of Floyd Mayweather.

Firstly, on an episode of his podcast, he said that it would have been amazing if we could have seen Mayweather fight Lomachenko when Mayweather was in his prime. Rogan said it would have been incredible.

Further speaking about Mayweather, JR opined that just because Mayweather has won a lot of decisions, people don’t get excited about him. He further added that people don’t recognize with the all-time greats and said that Mayweather is the “best ever“.

Well, it is not surprising to see the voice of the UFC make such a comment. In his career, Floyd Mayweather has remained undefeated and is hailed as the greatest boxer of all time by many people.
