Former UFC Welterweight champion Tyron Woodley didn’t retire in the way he’d have wanted to, racking up four consecutive losses to sum up his MMA career. However, ‘The Chosen One’ recently revealed his plans to come back into MMA after a couple of failed stints in boxing against YouTuber-turned-boxer, Jake Paul.

Following his UFC departure, Paul seemed to be the right opponent for Tyron Woodley to explore his chances in boxing. But as we all know, ‘The Chosen One’ lost one fight via decision and the other via a sensational knockout, which was a contender for the knockout of the year in 2021. However, Woodley’s heart still seems to be in MMA.

Tyron Woodley seems to have resumed training and workout sessions as he seeks to make an impact in MMA once again. “Now that I have everything in position I can focus on getting this body back into shape and getting ready to do more destruction,” the 42-year-old added. Meanwhile, ‘T-Wood’ also made sure to reveal that his boxing venture is far from being over.

Tyron Woodley is still interested in boxing despite the MMA return announcement

Boxing pays more than MMA and this has been the case for a long time. However, that’s not what’s driving Tyron Woodley to continue to box, as the real reason why he still wants to do it is because “it’s fun.” Moreover, boxing is a one-dimensional combat sports discipline, which for MMA fighters is a big relief, and ‘The Chosen One’ claims that boxing training doesn’t weigh too much on the body as much as it happens all so often in MMA.

“I’m not done with the boxing thing either because it’s fun, it’s easier on the body to train. It’s less martial arts you have to do together,” Woodley added. However, now, the former UFC champion is preparing for a “big MMA fight” and it remains to be seen if UFC is where he returns or if it’s the rival promotions like the PFL. What do you think?
