Dustin Poirier has been recovering from a Staph infection recently. The infection had worried fans when Brenn Okamoto tweeted antibiotics were not working on Poirier. As the infection wasn’t enough for Poirier, former rivals Conor McGregor and Nate Diaz attacked him on social media when news about his infection went out.

Poirier too was involved in a to-and-fro banter. The fighters also called out to each other for a fight. The interactions had excited the fans with a Conor McGregor vs Dustin Poirier Tetralogy fight. Although, it now seems that ‘The Diamond’ is mentally preparing himself for the big fights ahead. Recently, he shared that he has been watching his idol’s fights all night long.

Poirier is currently ranked #2 in the lightweight division. He is also the #11 fighter in the pound-for-pound rankings. Poirier has a career record that reads 29-7-1. He is best known for his fights against fighters like Dan Hooker, and Charles Oliveira and, most importantly, for his rivalry with Conor McGregor.

Dustin Poirier recently tweeted a picture with a quote from former boxer ‘Marvelous’ Marvin Hagler. He also captioned his post saying, “Marvelous” 

Poirier later, in a string of tweets, talked about how he can’t stop watching his legend fight.

He talked about his obsession with Hagler, “I can’t turn it off. Up every night watching the greats”.

Dustin Poirier looked in a light-hearted mood as he posted a story on his Instagram account. He shared a picture of himself getting punched in the face; further, he captioned it “How to get a free Nose Job!”

Later, when a fan page shared the story on Twitter, ‘The Diamond’ retweeted it; and the caption he chose was hilarious. He tweeted, “Follow me for more life hacks!”

‘The Diamond’s’ love for Marvin Hagler caught fans’ attention at UFC 281. Poirier was also seen wearing a replica of Marvin Hagler’s red hat that had the word “War” on it. Although he was not allowed to wear the hat; for some suspicious reasons. Poirier later had to tape the word “war” before he appeared for the presser.

Poirier looking towards his idol while recovering is only natural. Injuries and recoveries stress athletes a lot as they come with uncertainties. Also, the doubts about reaching the previous physical prime and form always bother athletes across sports; and take a toll on their minds.
