While Nate Diaz has been in the news for his upcoming fight against Jake Paul, his brother, Nick Diaz has largely kept a low profile. However, ‘Helen Yee Sports’ recently caught up with their teammate, Jake Shields, who provided an update regarding the older Diaz brother, and the possibility of him attending the fight on August 5.

Jake Shields has had a very close relationship with the famous Diaz brothers for years, even before they became big MMA stars. He has been traveling with them through the course of their careers. Shields was recently seen training at ‘Xtreme Couture MMA’ when ‘Helen Yee Sports’ caught hold of him for an interview.

The 44-year-old former UFC fighter stated that Nick Diaz had been away in Orange County, Los Angeles, and had last trained with him several weeks earlier. He said, “He went out to LA and Orange County. So, I haven’t really trained with him in the last, like, six weeks.” Furthermore, Shields confirmed the fact that Nick Diaz is not done fighting. He is still active in the training department. “They said he was training, wanting to fight,” said the 44-year-old.

He added, I believe he’s still training, but I haven’t talked too much. He’s been out in Orange County.” Jake Shields is confident that Diaz is training at the moment, even though he hasn’t had a conversation with him for some time now. Moreover, he assured the fans that he will reach out to him and get him back to Las Vegas.

Thoughts on Nick’s presence for Nate Diaz’s fight against Jake Paul

Shields was asked whether he knows if Nick Diaz will be present to watch his brother’s boxing debut against YouTuber-turned-professional boxer, Jake Paul. He appeared not to be sure about it. Shields said, “I mean, he should be. You never know with Nick.”

The 44-year-old claims that Nick Diaz is a mystery to him. He does what he wants to and when he wants to. Diaz’s teammate added, “Nick’s kind of a mystery. He kinda pops in wherever. He shows up, or he doesn’t.” However, Shields remains hopeful that Nick will show up like he mostly has. Diaz’s teammate added, “I will be really surprised if he doesn’t show up there.”

There have been certain occasions when Nick Diaz didn’t corner his brother Nate Diaz. However, we can never be too sure about it. We can only hope that he can be there to support his brother in, perhaps, one of the most anticipated fights of the year. We will have to wait and see what happens on August 5th.
