140-pound boxing contender Ryan Garcia is still in the news for his failed drug test. He’s pleaded his innocence amidst getting caught up in a failed drug test saga, but people are still waiting for an official confirmation on that front. However, UFC legend Chael Sonnen believes that there is no one else to blame for Garcia’s troubles than himself.

Chael Sonnen, who is pretty active on social media with his YouTube channel, posted yet another video, talking about Ryan Garcia’s shortcomings. His failed drug test reports tainted his impressive upset win. However, Chael Sonnen suggests that if he wants to find the real culprit behind these problems, Garcia should look right in the mirror.

Before the fight against Devin Haney went down, Ryan Garcia appeared to show some mental instability during the build-up to the fight. Moreover, he even went through a mental evaluation test which he passed and was thus cleared to feature in the match. However, people were still skeptical about the 25-year-old and they had no means to prove that he was doing anything. But things quickly changed when Garcia decided to volunteer for a drug test, and that’s what Sonnen claimed Garcia shouldn’t have done.

“Early on, there was no way to prove your [Garcia’s] innocence, which is the very reason you never should have gone into a volunteered drug pool in the first place,” Chael Sonnen stated on his YouTube channel. Furthermore, given that a fight was coming up, Ryan Garcia was already in camp, which would indicate that the boxer hailing from Victorville was already in a testing pool. However, ‘KingRy’s choice to attempt a public stunt with this drug test ended up backfiring as per the UFC legend.

“You know what the word volunteer means? To put yourself in jeopardy. You are not volunteering to have extra credit put on you… to enter a drug pool you’re already in… [or] to have a reputable agency oversee it. You already have all of those things,” Sonnen added. Nevertheless, Chael Sonnen believes Ryan Garcia did not make a cheating move, which he expanded on during his recent appearance on ‘The MMA Hour’.

Sonnen doesn’t think ‘KingRy’ took any anabolic substance

Chael Sonnen gave his standard understanding of the drug test failure of Ryan Garcia while talking to Ariel Helwani. While calling ‘KingRy’ a “dumb-dumb”, ‘The American Gangster’ added, “There are actual times where you’re dealing with a dumb-dumb and other people around him will slip him something. Ryan Garcia definitely qualifies as a dumb-dumb…Yea, he’s clean, man. He’s clean if you’re talking about anobolics. Anobolics, which in this order, make you bigger, stronger, faster…He’s clean.”

Regardless, Sonnen doesn’t think that there was any deliberate attempt to use anabolic steroids from the 140-pound boxer’s end. This is because substances like Ostarine are meant to make a person bigger and stronger, which did not seem to be the case for Ryan Garcia. After all, he had the same stature against Devin Haney that he had when he squared off against Gervonta Davis.
