John McCarthy analyzes the 10-round Jake Paul vs Nate Diaz fight

John McCarthy recently spoke about the Diaz vs Paul boxing match in a recent video of the ‘Weighing In’ podcast with Josh Thomson. While he understands ‘The Problem Child’s boxing abilities and capabilities, McCarthy claims that it won’t be an easy fight for the YouTuber. The former UFC referee said, “Jake Paul can definitely beat him [Diaz]. He can knock him out, but it ain’t gonna be easy. He’s gotta hit him with the right shot.”

On the other hand, the veteran ref also pointed out that Nate Diaz’s stamina could come into play in the fight. He refers to the fact that, in boxing, when fighters get knocked down or out, they have the advantage of recovering themselves, unlike in the UFC. McCarthy added, “Nate gets a beautiful ten seconds to get his a** up, well nine, to get up and then you’ll get a couple more seconds… That’s time that Nate normally doesn’t get if he gets rocked. He will be getting [time] which is only going to help him.”

The Stockton native may have an advantage

Nate Diaz is a very popular fighter not only for his antics during fights but also because of his limitless gas tank. He has showcased that in many fights. It was apparent during his fight against welterweight champion Leon Edwards at UFC 263. While the English fighter dominated most of the rounds, he suffered a scare in the closing stages. He was almost out of energy when Nate Diaz suddenly got him with the left hand, rattling Edwards and almost putting an end to his winning streak.
