Israel Adesanya, the former champion, also seemed super interested in the fight. Such was his interest that he even placed a bet on the fight.

Adesanya recently took to his Instagram account to share the details of his pick. It seems that the 34-year-old wanted Haney to win the fight and lost a good sum of money. The fans then shared their opinion on the whole and even criticized the former champion.

Ryan Garcia entered the fight as an underdog on Saturday against Devin Haney. Though Garcia proved his critics wrong and emerged victorious, his win came at a cost for Israel Adesanya as the former middleweight champion lost $20,000. It seems that ‘The Last Style Bender’ wanted Haney to win; however, destiny had some other plans. If Adesanya had managed to win the bet, he would have ended up with $40,000. After the news went viral, the fans took notice of the loss and shared their opinion on the whole. Some even cursed the former champion and came up with a new word ‘Izzy Curse’.

One user reminded Adesanya of his famous rivalry with Pereira by commenting, “poatan bet on Ryan Garcia, you lost to Alex again.”

Another user took a slight dig at the intelligence of the MMA fighters as they mentioned, “When a mma fighter thinks they know boxing”

One user mocked the champion for his belief in manifestation, “Manifesting went wrong” while Adesanya also commented on the post and tried to find a funny angle as he wrote, “What a fight, Yo lemme hold 20..”

A social media user came up with a unique name for Adesanya and commented, “Izzy curse has been born.” Meanwhile, some other comments include, “Izzy turned into drake and haney tried to turn into Khabib once he felt Ryan’s power,” and “You gave him the game plan like you gave Jamal?”

After his emphatic win, one of Garcia’s friends, Conor McGregor came out in support of the boxer. He shared a heartfelt message for him on his X account.

Before the much-awaited fight, ‘King Ry’ faced a lot of criticism for his behavior all over social media. Despite being under so much pressure, the professional delivered on the biggest stage. After his win, McGregor went into the dressing room to congratulate the winner and even termed him as the future of boxing. ‘Mystic Mac’ then took to his X account to share a heartfelt message for the 25-year-old.

He tweeted, “Well in! Jesus is King so don’t go against what he tells you personally and internally. Keep it right and good luck lil’ bro. Drink responsibly @ProperWhiskey and @ForgedStouteverynight ”. ‘ King Ry’ would now look to keep his winning momentum going after his latest victory.
