Jake Paul and his beef with UFC seems to be a long-standing thing. The Youtuber-Turner-Boxer had a sour relationship with Dana White and seems like he would like to continue. Recently, Paul issued a challenge to former middleweight champion Sean Strickland for a boxing match. However, the proposal was promptly rejected by UFC administrators. Paul’s contentious relationship with the UFC persists and a former UFC fighter has now advised him to fight better opponents.

Ex-UFC fighter and current ONE Championship flyweight champion, Demetrious Johnson has come forward with criticism as well as advice for ‘The Problem Child’. According to the ‘DJ’, Paul should be more willing to fight such fighters who are more hungry for a battle. Let us dive in to see what the flyweight goat has said about the face in Boxing.

Jake Paul handed over reality by Demetrious Johnson

Jake Paul recently had a confrontation with Sean Strickland after ‘Tarzan’ brutally sparred with influencer ‘Sneako’. Paul challenged Strickland to a fight in the cage and offered a million dollars for it. ‘The Problem Child’ even messaged Sean Strickland about the fight and the offer. However, in the messages, Paul also highlighted that Dana White would never let that fight materialize considering that Strickland had a contract with UFC.

After that altercation, Paul fought Ryan Bourland and brutally defeated Bourland, even injuring him. It might be a win for Paul but according to Demetrious Johnson, he should be fighting better opponents. “He [Jake Paul] is evolving, don’t get me wrong. He is evolving, but what are you doing when you’re fighting these guys you find off the street? Like I said before, when he fought Andre August, the gentleman was running pizza routes.” said Johnson in one of his videos.

He further added “Go find somebody who is 25, 26 years old, who Eddie Hearn or somebody can find that’s in the gym, that’s grinding, that’s hungry. Put yourself in the fire. Put yourself against top-level competition to build your credibility,” thus advising Paul to fight tougher opponents.

Additionally, Paul seems to take ‘Johnson’s advice quite seriously after his recent victory, as he took center stage to challenge Canelo Alvarez.

Seems like Jake Paul is taking a bit of Demetrious Johnson’s advice. ‘The Problem Child’ has now called out super middleweight champion Canelo Alvarez for a fight after his win against Ryan Bourland in one round in Puerto Rico. Paul overpowered Bourland in their fight and Bourland suffered some injuries in their fight. After the victory, Paul took the mic to challenge Alvarez.

“I mean, he was supposed to give it to me, right? This guy has 19 fights, he’s super-experienced. I guess we’ve got to step it up way more, But I’m ready. I’m getting sharp. This is my life now, and, like I said, I’m on the road to becoming a world champion.Canelo, stop ducking. I know you want it. I’m repping Puerto Rico, you’re repping Mexico, so it’s Puerto Rico vs Mexico. I want Canelo. I want all the biggest names. Like I said, I’m the face of this sport. Truly, who’s doing more for boxing than me? I keep on proving myself time and time again.” said Paul to DAZN after the fight.

Jake Paul wants to fight tougher opponents but seems like he is being ducked by most of them. Do you think Paul would be able to fight any stronger opponents in recent times? Tell us about your opinion in the comments below.
