Imagine a fight between Sean Strickland and Mike Perry. Needless to say, it’s as exciting as it could get. However, neither ‘Tarzan’ nor ‘Platinum’ has a fight booked as of now. But that doesn’t mean they can’t show the world what they’d look like if they fought each other. And the only way to do that is through a sparring session. And that’s exactly what the duo did. But little did they know that the session would invite some unwanted comments.

The former Bare Knuckle Fighting Championship king recently took to X and shared some visuals from his sparring with Strickland. He shared a couple of photographs of himself standing beside the former UFC middleweight champion. On top of that, there was also a 4:52-minute-long video of their sparring. Needless to say, Perry was pretty grateful to Strickland for letting him train under the roof of Xtreme Couture. In the caption, he wrote, “Finally got some work with the stiffmister haha not for the faint of heart, man he was tagging on me. Thanks [Sean Strickland] for the lesson 👏.”

The training visuals greatly impressed a lot of fans. Even professional fighters couldn’t steer away from it all. Darren Till, a former UFC contender who now competes under the banner of Misfits Boxing, had one thing to say about it. And no, he wasn’t impressed with Perry. Taking to the comments section, ‘The Gorilla’ wrote, “Oh god. Oh my f—— god. [Misfits Boxing] I no longer want to fight [Mike Perry] due to how s— he is, cancel all negotiations now for me please. Thank you!”

Soon, Jake Paul’s teammate and Till’s former opponent, Anthony Taylor, was also of a similar view regarding ‘Platinum’. Of course, the sparring session looked just like what a welterweight vs middleweight session would. In short, Strickland straight-up dominated Perry. ‘PrettyBoy’ weighed in on that and commented, “Got beat up like a Bozo 😂.” Who knows? Maybe this will give rise to a new rivalry in the boxing realm.

Nevertheless, this wasn’t Perry’s first interaction with Strickland. Although there aren’t many records of the two training together, we do know of an unusual instance regarding the duo. We’re indeed talking about the time when Perry offered to analyze fights alongside the #2 middleweight contender.

Mike Perry came forth with an unexpected role for him and Sean Strickland

Earlier in March 2025, Dirty Boxing’s official page shared a clip where Perry hinted at him and Strickland sharing the commentary booth at DBX1. He said, “I reached out to Sean Strickland yesterday. I figured and my team thought me and I in the commentary booth would be pretty spunky. You know I think we’ve had a good time talking fights. Be realistic as far as from a fighter’s standpoint we have the eyes to watch the action and explain to you what is happening.”

But did Strickland actually agree to it? We don’t know that yet. But what we do know is that Strickland and Perry have a history. They previously collided while arguing about the fighter pay at BKFC and UFC. ‘Tarzan’ had said, “UFC pay is utter garbage lol They’re signing guys at 10/10 that should be criminal… but the vast majority of BKFC fighters are getting paid way less than that….. As a ufc fighter, I advocate for better pay for me and the entire roster…… You should do the same for your guys.”

But now, things seem a lot different. The UFC middleweight contender showed his A-game while training Perry and ‘Platinum’ was pretty grateful for it. Nevertheless, Perry did get a new challenge. We might actually see him fighting Till and Taylor in the near future. And until that happens, all we can do is dream of the bouts.

What do you think of Taylor’s words for Perry and Strickland? Do you think this would ignite a rivalry between Perry and Taylor? Let us know what you think in the comments down below.
