Mike Tyson is about to face Jake Paul on July 20th. The news of their clash surprised the world, considering the stark age difference between them is being criminally underestimated. Paul is 27 while on the other hand Tyson is going to be 58. The match doesn’t make sense but seems like the community seems excited, deeming it a lesson for the YouTuber-turned-boxer. However, there’s a bit of concern regarding the match.

Tyson is one of the best to have ever stepped inside the ring. Nevertheless, the ‘goat’ is way past his prime and is in the clutches of old age. ‘Iron Mike’s’ downfall started after he was defeated by Buster Douglas and Joe Rogan for sure knows this fact. In one of his videos, Rogan emphasized the actual reasons for Tyson’s downfall.

Tyson is Back! was the name of the fight that happened between Buster Douglas and Mike Tyson. Going into the fight, Tyson was the favorite to win it. ‘Iron Mike’ was the undisputed undefeated champion at that time, however, everything was about to change for him. Mike Tyson was the number one fighter in the world’s pound-to-pound ranking which was rare for the heavyweight boxers at that time. Tyson never thought that he would ever lose until he met Douglas who wanted to clinch the win.

Ahead of their fight, Douglas promised his dying mother that he would defeat Mike Tyson, and seems like the power of promises and human tenacity worked in his favor. Despite being badly beaten by Tyson, Douglas defeated ‘Iron Mike’ by knocking him out of the park from the ring in the 10th round. The victory was the start of an amazing career for Douglas but was a downfall for Tyson.

Joe Roan in one of his episodes of ‘Joe Rogan Experience’ highlighted what caused Tyson to stray away from his aspirations. While in conversation about Buster Douglas vs. Mike Tyson, Rogan said, “Tyson had a bad corner. Tyson’s downfall is largely related to many things. Everybody falls; they just get too big and unmanageable, but also because Cus D. Amato died, and then he left Kevin Rooney, and so now he’s with these guys that were just around.”

Joe Rogan attributed the loss of a good team to Tyson’s downfall. Yet, it seems like Tyson wants to make a statement 19 years after his official retirement with his fight against Jake Paul and Rogan believes that Tyson would devastate Paul.

Rogan makes his pick for the fight

Jake Paul might be young and new to boxing but he does not even hold a candle to Mike Tyson according to Rogan. The million-dollar podcaster believes that Tyson despite his old age has the power to knock out any opponent in his way. I don’t give a f*** if he’s 55 – that’s still Mike Tyson,” he said on his podcast, the Joe Rogan Experience.

He further added, ” “He trains with Rafael Cordeiro, who’s a legend in MMA – he runs Kings Mixed Martial Arts. Rafael is a world-renowned trainer. When you see him holding the mits for Tyson and Tyson is smashing the mits. Jesus! That guy can still f*** you up. In this world with hormone replacement and vitamins. He does all this electrical muscle stimulation recovery stuff. When they were training Mike for that Roy Jones fight they were using state-of-the-art science. I don’t give a f*** if he’s 55 years old, that guy will hurt you. If Jake Paul’s on the other side of the ring and he sees Mike Tyson bobbing and weaving he’s going to have a recognition. He’s going to look over and go, ‘Oh my God, that’s really Mike Tyson.’”
