UFC pound-for-pound king Kamaru Usman and boxing middleweight champion Canelo Alvarez are in an online feud over a potential fight. In the latest update, former UFC lightweight champion Khabib Nurmagomedov made an attempt to help the UFC welterweight champion get the fight.

Canelo Alvarez and Kamaru Usman recently went back and forth on Twitter over a potential crossover fight. They exchanged barbs in back-to-back tweets until Alvarez shut down the talks whilst stating his reasons.

However, things are again turning speculative after Khabib Nurmagomedov motivated Usman to take Alvarez on. In an Instagram story, ‘The Eagle’ shared a picture that contained all the words exchanged between the two fighters. It also had a message for ‘The Nigerian Nightmare’.

This came after Canelo Alvarez already ended the talks with a tweet where he hinted at not being interested in fighting Usman.

In response to a challenge in both the cage and the ring, Alvarez tweeted, “You calling me out right ? You want the pay day right ? So you know where, but sit down it’s not your turn yet I have a legacy to make

It will be an interesting match-up if this fight goes through. However, it will also largely depend on the format in which the two fighters sign up to fight. Canelo Alvarez is a quick boxer who is known for moving his upper body to sway an opponent’s punches. He then uses the opportunity to counterpunch and score.

Usman, on the other hand, is an elite grappler with wrestling and Jiu-Jitsu at his disposal.

Dana White rejects Kamaru Usman – Canelo Alvarez fight

While Usman looks increasingly excited to take on Alvarez, the UFC president thinks it is “stupid”. ‘The Nigerian Nightmare’ has been trying for a crossover fight with Alvarez for some time now. However, Dana White has shot down the talks by calling it a fight that makes no sense.

It is obvious why White doesn’t like the idea. No one can deny the fact that Kamaru Usman is currently the best active MMA fighter out there. However, as he is no boxer, fighting one of the best active punchers may prove problematic.

“I think that he is [Usman] serious about it — he shouldn’t be serious about it,” White told Sky Sports. “I don’t like that fight at all.” “Everything about it is horrible. Usman is not a boxer. Canelo is probably the best guy out there right now. It’s a stupid fight that makes no sense.”

Dana White believes Usman shouldn’t be serious about this and focus on MMA. Hence, if ‘The Nigerian Nightmare’ is serious about it, he will probably have to do it without White’s approval.

He revealed the reason behind rejecting it in an interview later on: “It is a little bit dangerous. In this business, I don’t come to make money. I come here for legacy.”
