Khabib Nurmagomedov, being the leader of the Dagestani Russian camp at the UFC, is someone with a strict personality. A trait he got from his father and coach Abdulmanap Nurmagomedov.

‘The Eagle’ has a straightforward personality and doesn’t shy away from calling a spade a spade where ever need be.

In a conversation with the hosts of the Full Send podcast, the Dagestani revisited his rivalry with nemesis Conor McGregor. Although while he was talking about his ‘historical’ fight, he fired shots at the ‘fake fight’ that was McGregor vs. Mayweather.

“For sure, this is biggest fight in history of martial arts. You know, nothing close. I think even when he fight with Mayweather it’s like okay. But not many people care about this fight,” Nurmagomedov said.

“It was like historical event; you know like MMA champion vs. boxing champion… but inside the fight, like many people, they don’t even remember what happened inside the fight… Most of the people don’t remember, they don’t remember because it was just like sparring fight.”

“For me, it was not real fight because this guy not real boxer, and Mayweather like what he did. For me, it was like more fake fight. This just my opinion, maybe, maybe not. But like and then, what was between us, it was real,” ‘The Eagle’ continued.

Ever since he bid farewell to the octagon back in 2020, after his title defense against Justin Gaethje, ‘The Eagle’ has fully transitioned into an entrepreneur.

Nurmagomedov successfully founded a mobile network company, protein bar brand, fast-food chain, and most noticeably, an MMA promotion called Eagle Fighting Championship.

Just after his retirement in 2020, the Dagestani bought a pre-existing promotion known as Gorilla FC and rebranded it as per his monicker ‘The Eagle’. After faring well in the home nation, Nurmagomedov decided to put the promotion in global sight with its first North American event, Eagle FC 44. The event went down at the FLX Arena in Miami, Florida.

The main event comprising Tyrone Spong and Sergei Kharitonov went in the latter’s favor. However, the highlight of the night was former UFC light heavyweight champion Rashad Evans, who made a triumphant comeback.
