Mike Tyson, announcing his return to boxing, has taken the combat sports world by storm. After the declaration of his return against Jake Paul, many people have raised concerns regarding his health since he’s just 3 years away from being 60 years old. UFC Hall of Famer Mark Coleman recently shared a message for Tyson about the worries people have about his well-being.

Mark Coleman has been on the news recently for his recent heroic act. The former UFC champion saved his parents from a house fire but lost his pet dog and got hospitalized for inhaling a lot of smoke during the incident. Fans and MMA personalities have raised concerns for his health while ‘The Hammer’ decided to talk about concerns regarding Mike Tyson’s health ahead of his fight against Jake Paul.

Mike Tyson’s trainer Rafael Cordeiro recently appeared on ‘The MMA Hour‘, where he addressed the concerns regarding Mike Tyson for his comeback fight. He totally shut down people who are doubting ‘Iron’ to overcome Jake Paul on July 20. Reminding people of his former champion status, Cordeiro appeared to have no worries about Tyson making his return at 58 years of age.

“I believe people don’t have to be concerned about [Mike Tyson’s safety]. You’re talking about a guy who’s [a] two-time world champ. The guy didn’t have 20 fights in two years. He knows how to fight. He fought against the best guys in the world,” said Rafael Cordeiro. Tyson’s trainer further mentioned that fighting is not a novel thing for ‘Iron’ and the fight against Jake Paul will just simply be another outing for the former two-time boxing world champion.

“When he steps inside the ring, he knows what to do. It’s not something new for Mike and this fight is not different,” Cordeiro added. His words regarding Tyson’s upcoming fight were shared in a post on Instagram, and Mark Coleman took notice of it. He decided to send a message about what he thought about the ‘Iron’s return as he agreed with Rafael Cordeiro and stated, “I agree,” believing that it would be an easy fight for Mike Tyson. But people have been wondering the real reason why the icon decided to fight Jake Paul, to which an MMA veteran seems to have an answer.

MMA veteran claims the Jake Paul fight is about more than money for Tyson

Former UFC and Strikeforce fighter Josh Thomson weighed in on the discussions about the fight between Jake Paul and Mike Tyson. The 45-year-old believes that the fight against ‘The Problem Child’ may have been presented to the boxing icon with a hefty payday, guessing that he could earn more than $20 million from that fight. However, Thomson was not ready to believe that Tyson was doing it just for the money.

Josh Thomson believes there could be something else for ‘Iron’ to achieve besides making a lot of money, and that something else is respect. Jake Paul has talked down many fighters with an actual boxing background in the past, and the 45-year-old believes that ‘Iron’ wants to humble the Youtuber-turned-boxer. “It’s a respect thing. Learn how to respect the people that came before you,” said Thomson.

The Paul-Tyson fight will be streaming on Netflix, which is the biggest OTT platform out there. As such, it is safe to assume that both fighters will pocket significant paychecks. However, we will have to wait and see if returning to the squared circle at the age of 58 turns out to be a good or a bad idea for Mike Tyson.
