Mexican Super middleweight champion and one of the biggest names in boxing, Canelo Alvarez suffered a shocking loss. His second outing in the light heavyweight division against the WBA champion, Dmitry Bivol, produced the loss. Alvarez suffered his second career defeat and his bid to pick up another title in the category has failed.

Speaking with a prominent MMA journalist, Dave ‘Schmo’ Schmulenson, Henry Cejudo, revealed what Mike Tyson told him about the Mexican boxer. The former UFC champion stated that ‘Iron’ Mike believes Canelo’s previous loss would play a big role in his next fight.
Mike Tyson believes this might be the best time to beat Alvarez
Cejudo shed light on the exact words of Tyson while trying to imitate the legendary boxer. He said, “I was just talking to Uncle Mike that is the legendary Mike Tyson, and he was telling me, Right now he is like, ‘Man right now, the time to beat Canelo is now. He just got that chip on the shoulder, but he might fight emotional.”

The former dual weight champion agreed with Tyson, but he still believes Gennady Golovkin is on a similar boat as his rival. He added,” You know what? You might be right, but I think triple G having that chip on his shoulder for losing to him and seeing what Bivol did? There is a game plan set in place. I think Triple G is going to be a lot more defensive in this fight.”

The first outing saw the duo produce a highly competitive bout, which ended in a draw. However, in the rematch, Canelo capitalized on the chance and secured a unanimous decision to win by outpointing the Kazakhstani boxer. Now, after nearly 4 years, the highly anticipated Trilogy is finally going to take place. In the previous outing, Golovkin dropped all three major super middleweights titles in WBA, WBC, and IBO.

Finally, on September 17, 2022, he will get his chance to right that wrong. His loss to Alvarez serves as the asterisk in his career. The Mexican can finally strike that loss of his record and redeem champion status.
