Jake Paul and Mike Tyson shocked the world when they dropped the news of their fight set to take place on the 20th of July at the AT&T Arena. Since the announcement of their fight, Paul spared no effort in doing everything in his power to start a banter with the boxing star. However, in his pursuit, is the Youtuber-turned-boxer forgetting he is facing one of the most brutal fighters in boxing history?

Even at nearly 60 years old, Mike Tyson is not a man to be trifled with, and Joe Rogan ͏and Roy Jones Jr. know ͏it. Roy Jones recalls what it was like to fight Mike Tyson

“Lockdown Knockdown” – this was the name for the fight that went down between Mike Tyson and Roy Jones Jr. back in 2020 at the Staples Center, in Los Angeles, California. Two veterans coming out of retirement, Jones and Tyson, went toe-to-toe against each other in their exhibition bout. Their clash ended in a split draw (79–73 Tyson, 76–76 draw, 80–76 Jones).

Roy Jones Jr. understood one thing from the fight: even at the age of 54, Tyson possessed enough power to knock down anyone. In his conversation with Joe Rogan in ‘Joe Rogan Experience’ #1548, Jones explained why it’s better to be fully prepared if you want to face a man like Mike Tyson. “You better get in a little shape because you are going in there with Mike Tyson. You don’t know what Mike Tyson might come in there, dude. You don’t know if you got to protect your ears, your chin, your jaw,” said Jones.

He further added, “So what you do is get in shape and prepare for whichever Mike shows up.” Jones went ͏eight rounds with Tyson, and the bout ended in a draw. ͏However, from an economic standpoint, it was a resounding success. Their ma͏tch ͏single-handed͏ly generated a massive $80 million in pay-per-view revenue with over 1.6 million PPV buys.

After their clash, Tyson stated that he loved every moment of it and he might do it again someday. “Absolutely would do this again. I’m just happy I could go eight rounds. Knockouts mean nothing, you have to be able to go the distance” said Mike Tyson after the fight. Fast forward to today, ‘Iron Mike’ is on the loose to fight ‘The Problem Child,’ and Joe Rogan already has a winner in their fight.

Rogan has already bet against the tide

Joe Rogan is not betting against Mike Tyson, regardless of the 30-year age difference between Tyson and Paul. The $200 million podcaster said, “I don’t give a f*** if he’s 55 – that’s still Mike Tyson.”

He further added, “When you see him [Tyson’s coach] holding the mitts for Tyson and Tyson is smashing the mitts. Jesus! That guy can still f*** you up. In this world with hormone replacement and vitamins. He does all this electrical muscle stimulation recovery stuff. When they were training Mike for that Roy Jones fight they were using state-of-the-art science.”

Mike Tyson is going to be 58 soon. Still, Rogan thinks Tyson would school Paul – “I don’t give a f*** if he’s 55 years old, that guy will hurt you. If Jake Paul’s on the other side of the ring and he sees Mike Tyson bobbing and weaving he’s going to have a recognition. He’s going to look over and go, ‘Oh my God, that’s really Mike Tyson.'”

Who do you think would win in their clash? Will Paul add another legend to his resume or will Tyson remind the world of his prowess once again? Let us know in the comments.
