Since the announcement of the fight, experts have shared their opinions on the upcoming battle and how much each boxer will earn from it. The fight on July 20 will be streamed on Netflix and with the streaming giants raking in billions in revenue, a large purse for both boxers can be expected.

During the segment Outside of the Cage on the Pound 4 Pound podcast, Kamaru Usman questioned Jake Paul’s decision to fight Tyson and asked Cejudo if he respects this decision. Cejudo said, “I mean you know what I respect, uncle Mike…But it obviously takes two to tango. And I feel like there is probably a really good payday for Mike. He’s probably gonna wind up making close to about 20 mil as he’s about to turn 58 years old. I mean literally Jake Paul’s 27 Mike Tyson is 57.” Cejudo then talked about how Tyson prepares for a fight, suggesting it won’t be easy for a much younger Jake Paul.

The UFC veteran said, “I don’t like it but Mike Tyson and I’ve been there and I was with him when he was getting ready for the Roy Jones fight. Kamaru like this dude’s disciplined dude he’s almost like us you know. He gets moody when he’s in fight camp. He stops smoking  or he doesn’t smoke as much you know. He starts to eat clean he runs every day 5 in the morning.”

Tyson will likely earn a substantial purse from the Jake Paul fight on Netflix. The streaming giants generated a revenue of $33.7 billion in 2023 alone, which is a 6.6% increase compared to 2022. So, them forking out an eight-figure sum to Tyson shouldn’t be a problem. During his heyday, Tyson made paydays of $100+ million for some of his biggest fights.

57-year-old Mike Tyson was once the most feared man on the planet. Not only was he considered one of the greatest heavyweights in the world, but he also had an impressive record to back it up. After his retirement in 2005, he has participated in a few exhibition matches, with the last one of these coming against Ray Jones in 2020 with the contest ending in a draw. Tyson’s purse for that fight was reportedly $10 million.

While ‘Triple C’ points out the major monetary benefits that ‘Iron’ would be making out of this fight, is it still worth taking a risk? UFC CEO Dana White recently completed a successful UFC 299 event and shared why he doesn’t like the upcoming fight and gave his own reasons.

Dana White is concerned about Mike Tyson for his next fight

After shifting his focus to professional boxing, Jake Paul has started making a name for himself in this field. ‘The Problem Child’ showed that he can finish opponents and does possess the knockout power. However, the UFC head honcho is concerned about the 31-year-age gap between the pair. During a press conference, White said, “He gets mad when I do this [ask Tyson not to fight]. But Mike’s [almost] 60 now, man. I don’t know,” White has always been a huge fan of Mike Tyson but feels age might just catch up to the former champion.

He further added, “I love Mike Tyson personally as a friend and he’s one of my favorite athletes of all time… Let’s see what he can [do], go in there, put together a training camp, and come in… I don’t like seeing guys [at his age] fighting it,” While the UFC CEO  doesn’t approve of the fight it will be interesting to see whether ‘Iron’ can upset ‘The Problem Child’. Who do you think will win the fight between the two? Let us know in the comments below.
