The guns of glory are blazing for the UFC CEO Dana White. Why, you might ask? Well, that’s because after dominating the world of MMA for more than two decades through UFC, he’s now setting his eagle eyes on the boxing world. At the Callum Walsh boxing fight in Ireland, White announced that he would be getting into the boxing world, “There will be some big announcements.” This statement alone appeared to have wreaked havoc on the boxing behemoths. Regardless, despite the hubbub, White’s friend, Mike Tyson has appreciated his effort to get into the boxing realm

‘Iron Mike’ is about to face Jake Paul in a promotional event within the next two months, however, despite his busy schedule, the former champ has come forward to praise the efforts of his friend. And Mike Tyson’s words are enough to have made the otherwise tough CEO blush.

Dana White reacts as boxing goat Mike Tyson gives green signal to his boxing dreams

The UFC CEO shocked the combat sports community altogether when he announced that he would be venturing into the world of boxing after calling out the unorganized elements of the sport for years. We must not forget that White started his career in the industry due to his love for boxing and it shouldn’t come as a shock.

As soon as the former heavyweight champ noticed White’s comments, Mike Tyson emphasized that his friend’s involvement in the sport would be the best thing to happen to boxing. While in conversation on the ‘What it Is’ podcast, Tyson said, “Well listen, that’s going to be the best thing to happen to boxing because Dana – listen, just like UFC, right? Listen, if you in UFC and if anybody’s booing a fight, you’re not going to see that guy.”

He further added, “Their next fight is going to be in South Dakota somewhere. There’s only good fights. If you don’t have a good fight, you ain’t never going to see that guy again. Not like boxing – oh, this guy is going to fight next month again. You don’t want to see that. You might think about Shakur [Stevenson]. If any stink fights, you’re not back in the UFC no more. You’re never going to see those guys again.”

Consequently, Tyson’s words found their way to Dana White’s ears . At the press conference of DWCS, the UFC CEO was asked about Mike Tyson’s appreciation to which he gave a simple answer, “You know, you know how I feel about Mike. I love Mike Tyson, so to hear Mike Tyson say anything positive is awesome.”

White explains the reason why he wants to get into boxing

At the DWCS 73 press conference, the UFC CEO was asked several questions, and one of them was about his involvement with the newest boxing sensation from Ireland, Callum Walsh as well as his involvement in the boxing world. Dana White happily answered those questions but when one of the reporters inquired about the reason why he wanted to get into the boxing industry, the UFC CEO asserted that it’s the perfect time to be in that business now.

“Every time I get on the phone with these guys, I go, ‘Am I out of my f*cking mind?“It’s just… But I think obviously now is the time, or I would’ve done it (in 2017). I was kicking around. I was even talking about Anthony Joshua at one time and stuff like that. I’m glad I pumped the brakes and we waited. Everything is about timing. Is now the time? We’re going to find out. I have a plan.I’m going to implement that plan and we’ll see how that works,” said White.

Many within the community believe that this sudden change is due to the interference of HE Turki Alashikh in the boxing world but others believe that the UFC CEO is done with MMA. Regardless, what’s your take on the hubbub? State your thoughts in the comments below.
