On August 5th, Jake Paul and Nate Diaz are all set to lock horns inside the boxing ring. For those unaware, this wouldn’t be the first time that Paul will go up against an octagon veteran. Before this, the former Disney star has gone toe-to-toe with the likes of Tyron Woodley, Ben Askren, and Anderson Silva. But much to the dismay of the MMA community, Paul has come out on top on all previous occasions.

Unlike Paul’s previous opponents, Diaz never held a belt at any major promotion. But despite this, he remains a fan favorite, thanks to his relentless fighting style. For many, the Californian’s cardio is his trump card for the upcoming clash. Keeping this in mind, MMA fans are hoping Diaz will be their avenger against the YouTube sensation.

Amidst the talks, Paul came up with a unique perspective regarding his upcoming clash. According to him, the cardio inside the boxing ring and the octagon are different from each other. While Diaz might have superior cardio for MMA, that wouldn’t be the base inside the boxing ring. This is something that he wants to prove to the world in his upcoming bout.

This statement came in response to McAfee’s question asking whether a 10-round fight favors his rival. To this, Paul replied He definitely has good cardio. Um, but I’m just gonna show the world that my boxing ability is greater than his. I’m sure he’s gonna bring a good fight. I’m sure he’s gonna do a lot of good things, but I’m just gonna take away his best abilities and outwork him. And people will see my cardio is actually better than his, and that MMA cardio is different than boxing cardio.”

For those unaware, Diaz has made a name for himself with a relentless fighting style, coupled with his ‘granite’ chin. The fighter uses it to wear down his opponents. Over his more than two-decade-long career, this has been seen on numerous occasions, with the most notable being his rematch with Conor McGregor and his UFC 141 clash with Donald Cerrone.
