5th-ranked lightweight contender Michael Chandler has been touted as the opponent for Conor McGregor when the Irishman makes his comeback. However, there has been no official announcement about the fight yet, with Dana White even acting unsure of the former double champion’s announcement about the return in June. Meanwhile, Hall of Famer Daniel Cormier believes that there’s something else waiting for McGregor. He could be fighting his former rival, Nate Diaz.

“If McGregor fights Diaz, that is what I believe draws the general fan in as much as anything that they could do in the UFC right now,” said Daniel Cormier. Claiming that the two fights Conor McGregor had against Nate Diaz saw record numbers, ‘DC’ believes that there’s no bigger fight than these in all of MMA at the moment.

“It is still two of the highest-grossing PPVs in UFC history. These two men, when you put them together, make a lot of money,” Cormier further added. This fight could be a possibility given that Nate Diaz had earlier mentioned wanting to return to the Octagon for another run. It remains to be seen how Dana White navigates this situation, as we approach Conor McGregor’s return.
