It all started when Pacquiao found himself embroiled in a legal dispute with Paradigm Sports, Conor McGregor’s management company. Pacquiao was accused of breaching his contract with the sports management firm, and the court ruled against him.

‘PacMan’ joined Paradigm Sports at the end of 2020. A fight between him and ‘The Notorious’ was going to take place after McGregor vs. Poirier at UFC 257. ‘The Notorious’ was knocked out by Poirier in this match which, according to media reports, also led to the loss of interest in a matchup between Pacquiao and McGregor despite a deal being almost finalized.
