UFC stars Conor McGregor and Nate Diaz are not just big draws in the promotion. They have also had an intense rivalry. As a result, people would love to see them fight for the third time before Diaz leaves the promotion. Unfortunately, it does not seem like a possibility at this time.

The Stockton Slugger recently spoke to Ariel Helwani about McGregor. He was of the opinion that he gave Floyd Mayweather the blueprint to beat ‘The Notorious’.

Diaz said, “McGregor was too amateur to be fighting Floyd Mayweather. … And Floyd Mayweather went and did, he thought, ‘oh, I know how to fight him, looking when they did. That’s how you fight.’ Blueprint. Beat his a*s. That was easy. Made him punch himself out, test the round, beat his a*s.”

“Didn’t I do that right before him? That’s exactly what I did.”

The fighter further said that McGregor has not learned from his previous bouts. Diaz gave the example of him choking the then UFC featherweight champion at UFC 196. As per the Stockton native, Conor McGregor should have learned to not get choked after their first fight.

Diaz was McGregor’s first submission loss in the UFC. Khabib Nurmagomedov (UFC 229) was the second.

Similarly, Diaz thinks if McGregor learned to not punch himself out, he could have won against Mayweather. Thus, the fighter is of the opinion that ‘Mystic Mac’ jumped the line and didn’t get better.

What does Nate Diaz think about a trilogy fight with Conor McGregor?

If Diaz and McGregor’s trilogy fight were to happen, it would no doubt be huge. As both are coming off back-to-back losses, a third collision would be a good one for both mixed martial artists.

However, the McGregor fight does not excite Diaz, as their timelines do not match. In the same conversation with Helwani, the fighter rejected the idea of a trilogy contest against ‘The Notorious’.

Diaz either wants to complete his UFC contract or get released. Hence, he does not wish to wait for the Irish fighter.
