The world of MMA is truly excited to witness UFC 309, and none other than Conor McGregor has added fuel to the fire, as it seems like McGregor can’t stop himself from getting a piece of the action. So how is he doing it? Well, obviously through his high-stakes betting, as he loves to do in major sporting events. So how could he miss UFC 309? However, he also added a bit of boxing into the mix as well.

The Irishman took to Twitter to show his support for Jon Jones in his fight against Stipe Miocic, but he also showed some love to legendary boxer Mike Tyson as well. And he truly revealed it in the most Conor McGregor fashion as he told fans that he put a massive $1 million double bet on both Tyson and Jones. He wrote, “My two fight bets this weekend! Tyson KO, Jones Stoppage. $1million double on @Duelbits.”

This bold wager surely shows McGregor’s confidence in Tyson knocking out Jake Paul and Jones securing a stoppage against Stipe Miocic at UFC 309. Jake Paul’s fight against Mike Tyson definitely has been one of the most talked-about boxing matchups in the past decade, and ‘The Dynamite Kid’ would surely be glad to see that he has earned the trust of McGregor despite being 31 years older than his opponent.

Meanwhile, the UFC 309 bout between Jon Jones and Stipe Miocic is being speculated to be the last dance for both fighters. However, Conor McGregor has given Jones the responsibility to help double his wager by bowing out of the UFC as a fighter who only lost once, that too via disqualification.

The Irishman’s tweet has certainly put more pressure on the two legendary fighters. Now, only time will tell if they make McGregor proud or make him lose $1 million of his hard-earned money. But even if he does, it wouldn’t matter much to him since he has been into the habit of gambling big for a while now. In fact, he had major stakes on the outcome of two fights at UFC 308 as well!

Conor McGregor put major money on the table for UFC 308

Ahead of UFC 308, Conor McGregor stated in a clip on X that he put half a million on the line for two knockout wins. And if he wins, he would be getting $17 million in return. “So, ladies and gentlemen. My bet; half a million; two knockout wins. $17 million US dollars is the return. An absolutely colossal bet tonight on Duelbits. McGregor picks, let’s go. 17Ms baby, bring it home.” And whom did he bet on? Well, he wanted two former champions, Robert Whittaker and Max Holloway, to take home the win.

McGregor is confident in his bet since he previously won big when he bet on Alex Pereira winning against Khalil Rountree Jr., and as fate would have it, ‘Poatan’ secured a 4th-round technical knockout. However, both Holloway and Whittaker lost their fights at UFC 308, with both fights ending in the very first round. So instead of winning $17 million, McGregor lost half a million instead.

These bets are promotions for Duelbits with whom McGregor signed a deal. The UFC has regulations against athletes betting on fights which would technically keep McGregor from betting on UFC fights.

Now he definitely would be hoping that Jon Jones and Mike Tyson help him recover the major loss from UFC 308. But what do you think? Did McGregor bet on the right fighters? What would you have done? Let us know in the comments.
