Nobody believed it fully when YouTuber-turned-boxer Jake Paul defeated one of the UFC’s best. In August of 2023, Nate Diaz fought Jake Paul in a boxing match in Texas. The pay-per-view generated millions in income but it left UFC fans bewildered when Diaz ended up with a loss.

The defeat came down on him via a unanimous decision. Though Diaz tried to outperform Paul, things didn’t look as easy as fans had expected. Now, in a recent interview, former UFC fighter ‘Rampage’ Jackson disclosed some shocking details about Diaz’s physical state during the fight.

Nate Diaz never talked about his injury in the press out of fear of being discredited for making excuses. Quinton Jackson revealed in a recent conversation that he visited Diaz in his locker room after the fight. He spoke about how one of Diaz’s pecks looked smaller than the other.

“He just didn’t look like himself,” he said. “I don’t know if he said this in the press but he was injured. He had a pulled muscle in the back.” Many fans have spoken out about how Diaz wasn’t in the greatest of forms during the fight. While nobody really noticed the injury, ‘Rampage’ claimed that Diaz opened up to him about it. “I said, man what’s wrong with you? Cause one of his pecks was smaller than the other,” the former fighter continued. “I (Diaz) got a pinched nerve in my back.”

Other guests on the podcast pointed out how Nate Diaz isn’t the type to give out an excuse. If he did, it would mean losing respect for saying it. In a situation like this, Diaz just had to face the loss with everything he had in him. ‘Rampage’ Jackson admitted to how he would have given an excuse if it was him in Diaz’s place.

“I respect that because I got excuses for all of my losses,” the former fighter laughed as he confessed. The room agreed that Nate Diaz was the honorable veteran who wasn’t about to tell anyone he was injured. It’s been more than a month since that fight and many fans are expecting Jake Paul to keep riding that high for some time.

When the fight started, Paul was quick to go towards a certain pace and managed to drop Diaz in the fifth round. The way he is, Diaz recovered and kept on fighting until the final round. It was all in a bid to go back to fighting and also promote his own fighting promotion called Real Fights Inc.
