The Canelo Crawford vs Terence Crawford boxing PPV was a monumental event for Dana White, since it was his first boxing event as a promoter. However, boxing legend Oscar De La Hoya did not seem to be a fan of the show. In fact, ‘The Golden Boy’ put the UFC CEO and others on blast, claiming that the whole event was nothing but a massive failure, and De La Hoya gave his reasons as well.

There is no love lost between Dana White and Oscar De La Hoya. The duo had taken jibes at each other whenever they got the chance, and this time, it was the boxing legend’s turn, who first mentioned how proud he was that his prediction about Canelo Alvarez losing to Terence Crawford came true. “God, it makes me horny to tell you I told you so. I predicted the Canelo-Crawford fight like a goddamn fortune teller. Canelo’s feet were cemented on the canvas, and he was hitting air. What the f— was that?” De La Hoya stated on Instagram.
‘The Golden Boy’ nevertheless gave Terence Crawford his flowers for his clinical performance, claiming that there is absolutely no excuse for Canelo Alvarez for his loss. “Props to Crawford. He came up three weight classes and fought a beautiful fight. What a great performance! Like taking candy from a baby. He just played with Canelo. Made him look silly, and before you start with your s–t about Canelo being old, just know that Crawford is older! That’s not an excuse here,” Oscar De La Hoya continued.

The former boxing champion’s focus then shifted to the undercard of the boxing event last weekend, as he was left speechless due to the underwhelming fights that were put on. Asking Turki Alalshikh to make changes to his matchmaking team, Oscar De La Hoya also took aim at Dana White, claiming that it was certainly not the kind of boxing debut the UFC CEO was hoping for, especially because of the moment when White clashed with a reporter when asked about the Muhammad Ali act.
“As far as the undercard, Jesus Christmas. I feel bad for Turki wasting all that money. You have to fire your matchmakers, Turki… Dana White didn’t have his best week. His t-shirt shrank smaller every minute, especially when he was questioned about amending the Muhammad Ali Act,” Oscar De La Hoya added. “So you’re saying this reporter’s an a–hole because he’s asking a legitimate question? That’s because the Muhammad Ali Act protects fighters, and TKO needs it to change so they can f— fighters over.”

Well, Dana White may have thought his boxing debut went well. However, certain reports claim that the Canelo Alvarez vs Terence Crawford fight wasn’t even able to beat Jake Paul for viewership. Let’s take a look at that front.
Dana White lost to Jake Paul in terms of viewership
Jake Paul may not be the most welcomed personality in the sport of boxing, as many real boxers have come out to express their disgust about him destroying the sport. But guess what? Reports claim that Dana White’s first boxing event saw the main event garner only 41 million viewers. Well, it’s not bad, but we say ‘only’ for two reasons. Not only is the number way lower than Jake Paul’s fight, but the Canelo-Crawford fight also failed to surpass the viewership numbers of the rematch between Katie Taylor and Amanda Serrano, which amassed 74 million live viewers.
It appears that Jake Paul has also been tipped to surpass Dana White’s viewership numbers in his next fight against Gervonta Davis. Well, looking at what has been said, do you think the UFC CEO’s boxing debut was a colossal failure? Let us know in the comments down below.
