The fighting community has continued giving their opinions as Jake Paul gets ready to take on the formidable Mike Tyson in July. Following the debate over the huge age difference between the fighters, people have also made speculations about the money involved in the exhibition fight. Now, UFC star Colby Covington has come forward with an estimate on the numbers.

Although people seemed to think that the Paul brothers were great businessmen, the UFC welterweight contender had a different opinion. In a talk with the Hodgetwins brothers on their podcast, ‘Twin Pod’, Covington made a shocking revelation about the Paul brothers.

During the conversation, with Covington, the twins wondered the amount of money that the boxers would be getting out of the fight. The mixed martial artist revealed that it was somewhere around $20 million, although it wasn’t publicly disclosed. Thereafter, the hosts speculated that Tyson should get the majority of the money. But when they labeled the Paul brothers as “good businessmen”, Covington stood against the notion.

The MMA fighter opined, “They got the machine behind them. There’s no way they’re good businessmen. They got people that are pulling strings and putting them in these places. Like, they were doing Disney commercials when they were little kids!”

Covington also seemed to believe that Paul fixed his matches. He claimed that most of the fights involving ‘The Problem Child’ were not sanctioned fights, further adding that the fight against Tyson would also be an exhibition. But this is not the only time Covington talked about Paul vs. Tyson.

Colby Covington shares concern for Mike Tyson

In an episode of the Adam SOSCAST podcast, ‘Chaos’ disclosed that he was against the matchup. He simply did not like that Tyson was going to fight at his age. The legendary boxer has turned 57, which made many fight fans, including the UFC welterweight contender worry about his safety.

“I don’t think it’s safe, I think it’s dangerous at that age, your heart might explode you know. He gets hit in the head… he might have a brain bleed, I mean the guy, I-that’s what I hope for I hope for that Mike Tyson makes it through injury-free and doesn’t get hurt,” Covington said.

In another instance, the former UFC warrior, Michael Bisping, took to his YouTube channel and revealed that Tyson was indeed taking the fight a bit too seriously. He opined that the old boxer was not taking up the fight just for the sake of money, but for “the thrill of it.” He believed that ‘Iron’ missed the thrill of the boxing ring. Bisping further added, “When you are away from combat sports for so long, you know what I mean. It’s still in you. Still got that old dog deep inside, and he wants to go out and remind the world. This is fresh, this is a challenge. It’s something to get in shape for.”

Without a doubt, ‘Iron Mike’ is one of the most formidable opponents one can face inside the squared ring. However, given his age, the battle doesn’t come without worry.
