In the latest episode of Sean O’Malley’s podcast, TimboSugarShow, the UFC fighter, revealed that he’s been watching Floyd Mayweather‘s videos in order to get inspired. And while praising the 50-0 boxer, ‘Sugar’ expressed his desire to mirror the boxer’s achievement, too.

O’Malley said, “I’ve been watching a bunch of Floyd (Mayweather) stuff. That motherf****r would train like three to four times a day, like an hour at a time, hit the bag. Like constantly having his heart rate, probably at a… nothing spiked, maybe too crazy. You see him hit mitts, hit the bag… Dude, it’s so f*****g sweet. 50-0, retired at the top, didn’t lose. It’s inspirational. I’m trying to be 50-0.”

He further went to laud Mayweather‘s achievements and his unbelievable winning streak, which is something he aspires to attain himself, too.

“Didn’t get knocked out. Had some hard fights. Fought the best guys. Just his work ethic. That motherf****r. You don’t get 50-0, you don’t become Floyd without a crazy work ethic. It’s constantly running, hitting the bag, hitting mitts.”

He further added, “He has some serious genes, some serious athletic genes.”

Additionally, in an interview with Helen Yee, the UFC star also admitted to watching his idol Conor McGregor‘s old videos and stated that the UFC is missing the ‘Conor’ feel. It appears that ‘Sugar’ is learning from the best of the best here and maybe big money is what he is going for from hereon.

On the professional front, Sean O’Malley stated that his next fight is a ‘guaranteed’ title shot. And to prepare for it, he’s perfecting one aspect in particular, which is pretty much all that he’s doing as his ‘training’.

O’Malley is refining the ‘one’ critical skill for his ‘guaranteed’ title fight

During an interview with Michael Bisping, the 28-year-old shed light on his potential title fight against Aljamain Sterling and Henry Cejudo. However, that requires him to get on par with both of them in the area of grappling. And that is exactly what he’s doing.

The UFC star stated, “I’m guaranteed a title shot. Obviously, Aljo and Henry still have to be announced. So, I’m kind of in that position where I’m like, do I be smart, like I’ve done my entire career, and just wait for those two dorks to fight? Or do I, you know, risk it and go fight someone else?”

When talking about his training, O’Malley added that he is concentrating on his grappling because Henry Cejudo and Aljamain Sterling are both strong in this discipline. “I know I need to improve in aspects of my grappling, whether I fight ‘Aljo’ or Henry. They’re both very heavy grapplers. So I’m fine with sitting out. I’m literally just grappling. That’s all I’m really doing nowadays. So, I’m fine waiting a couple months, just keep getting better.” said the bantamweight stalwart.
