Anderson Silva fought Tito Ortiz last weekend in the co-main event of a Triller fight card. ‘The Spider’ earned a dominating first-round T/KO finish in his record. UFC President Dana White was blown away by Silva’s performance at the age of 46.

The former UFC middleweight champion transitioned to boxing after retiring from the sport of MMA. Since then he has earned a decision win against former world champion boxer, Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. And now he has completely schooled Ortiz. While White is skeptical of Ortiz’s quality as a boxer, he holds Chavez Jr in high regard.

“Anderson Silva, we honestly need to start talking again about this guy as the G.O.A.T. Not Tito, because he knocked Tito out in 40 f*cking seconds, but you know what, he did to Tito what exactly should be done to Tito. Knocking Tito out in 40 seconds is what should have happened in that fight,” said White.

“Anderson Silva beat Chavez Jr,” he added. “He now left the sport in which he was considered one of the greatest of all time, possibly even the greatest of all time, goes out, beat Chavez Jr in a boxing match, knocks Tito out in 40 seconds,” White said further.

“Tito had a good chin. Tito took big shots from a lot of guys who hit hard. Anderson Silva knocked Tito out in 40 seconds. Anderson Silva might actually be the G.O.A.T of combat sports,” he concluded.

Is Dana White right to say Anderson Silva the G.O.A.T?

While Silva’s UFC career at the end doesn’t do justice to his previous record, there’s no doubt he set the benchmark high for every other fighter looking to become great. ‘The Spider’ was once as good as invincible. His legacy in MMA will remain unmatched.

And now, the former UFC champion is raising eyebrows with his scintillating quality inside the squared ring. There are very few athletes who can compete with that sort of complete resume. So, White might just have a point here. Fight fans need to reconsider Silva‘s claims as to the G.O.A.T.
