As much as it is a surprise for fans that Conor McGregor is reportedly making his return to fighting in an exhibition boxing match, they never expected ‘The Notorious’ to be going up against Logan Paul. The 29-year-old YouTuber-cum-WWE superstar is significantly bigger than the Dubliner, which has made people wonder if he has any chance of winning their bout. Well, Sean O’Malley’s coach believes McGregor might have an unexpected advantage.
Logan Paul’s brother, Jake Paul, recently fought in his biggest fight to date against Mike Tyson, and although ‘Iron’ is in his late 50s, the numbers showed that ‘El Gallo’ did pretty well. His older brother was there for the occasion, who got called out by Tyson after the fight for his next boxing match, which Logan refused with a jibe at the boxing icon. Meanwhile, Sean O’Malley‘s coach, Tim Welch, claims to have been there and even had a chat with the former WWE United States Champion, claiming that his physique had toned down a bit from the 200+ pound stature he used to sport.
“Last time I saw Logan; we saw Logan Paul at the Jake Paul-Mike Tyson fight and talked to him a bit. He’s not near as huge as he usually is,” Tim Welch stated on his YouTube podcast. “Usually he looks like he’s 210, 6’2” [and] f***ing, just yoked. This time he looked about 190. Maybe 190.” Former UFC fighter Joe Riggs, who was the guest on Welch’s show, asked about Logan Paul possibly getting clean from the ‘juice’. But O’Malley’s coach claimed to have no idea of Paul using any PEDs or substances of that sort. “I don’t know,” an unsure Welch replied.

Nevertheless, he’s pretty intrigued with this fight and how this will work out. The last time Conor McGregor stepped into a boxing ring, he could only go as far as the 8th round. But then again, it was Floyd Mayweather he was up against. Also, Welch believes that both Logan Paul and the Irishman are walking around the same weight, so McGregor has the ball in his court. “That’s an interesting fight, though… 10 3-minute rounds. Logan Paul’s probably going to be bigger. I wonder what weight. Maybe at 185,” Welch added. “Logan could probably make 180. Conor McGregor looks like he’s walking around ’85 or ’90… I think Conor would beat him.”

Well, Tim Welch isn’t the only one who’s putting all his money on Conor McGregor’s side because there’s someone else who believes the Irishman will get the better of Logan Paul. Let’s have a look at that front.
UFC veteran is rooting for Conor McGregor to beat Logan Paul
Conor McGregor is known to be one of the cleanest strikers of the game. With great precision, timing, and power, the Irishman has amassed a total of 19 career MMA knockout wins on his resume. On the other hand, Logan Paul doesn’t have a pretty record when it comes to his boxing career. The 29-year-old has yet to win a professional boxing match and his last outing against Conor McGregor’s friend and BJJ coach, Dillon Danis, didn’t impress anyone as he failed to knock out Danis despite sporting a larger physique.

On that note, veteran lightweight Michael Johnson claims that Paul cannot overwhelm McGregor with his boxing. “Yeah, Imma ride with Conor on that one just because, I mean, Logan ain’t gonna outbox him,” Johnson stated during an appearance on the ‘Overdogs Podcast.’ Even former world champion Amir Khan, who fought Canelo Alvarez, chimed in to share his prediction in an interview. “If you look at Logan’s Mayweather fight, he went into the ring and beat him, so I’m sure Conor could do the same,” Khan told ‘The Sports Daily’.
We still don’t have any official date out yet for Conor McGregor’s boxing match. The only thing we know is that it is allegedly slated to go down in India, but things can change as we move forward. What are your expectations from the McGregor vs Paul fight? Drop your comments below.
