What’s next for Terence Crawford? The Omaha native cemented his status as arguably the greatest boxer of his generation following the huge upset win over Canelo Alvarez, who was the favorite to win last weekend. There’s no shortage of challengers for arguably the greatest boxer of this decade, and one name that tops the list is UFC champion Ilia Topuria! However, UFC legend Michael Bisping has advised ‘El Matador’ to curb his enthusiasm.

In a recent video posted on his YouTube channel, Michael Bisping revealed that Terence Crawford made a hefty $50 million for the fight against Canelo Alvarez. This was higher than what ‘Bud’ had claimed prior to the fight in an interview, as he mentioned accepting the boxing match for $10 million. That kind of money can set athletes up for life, and Michael Bisping stressed that fighting Ilia Topuria will be a risky move on ‘Bud’s part, and because it’s not a financially lucrative offer, it’s less appealing for the five-weight world champion.
“I think his purse was somewhere around $50 million what he got at the weekend. Of course, he’s had a tremendous career. He’s undefeated, and he’s 37 years old,” Michael Bisping stated on YouTube. “He doesn’t need to be chasing ‘money fights’ that he doesn’t even think is a money fight, at all. And he probably wouldn’t want to tarnish his own legacy.”

Michael Bisping believes that Terence Crawford will make the same move he did when Jake Paul put an offer on the table for him. Yes, the YouTuber-turned-boxer wanted to add ‘The Count’ to the list of retired MMA fighters he’s competed against in boxing. Although Bisping could have made a few hundred thousand dollars, he did not think it was worth spoiling his legacy as an MMA icon.
“Just like, I will use myself as an example, when Jake Paul offered me a fight a couple of years ago, I wasn’t interested. I had a great career. [I] became the champion. I wasn’t going to lower myself to fighting Jake Paul. And that’s probably what Crawford would be like,” Michael Bisping added.

Ilia Topuria is doing his part and taking constant jibes at Terence Crawford. When ‘Bud’ claimed he never knew him or saw him fight, ‘El Matador’ was quick to prove that it was a lie. However, the new super middleweight king doesn’t think that Topuria is being genuine about having a serious wish to fight him.

Terence Crawford claims Ilia Topuria’s callout is “fake”
During an interview with Ariel Helwani after his win over Canelo Alvarez, Terence Crawford not only dismissed the challenge put forth by Ilia Topuria but also claimed that he sees right through the UFC champ’s facade. ‘El Matador’ calling names and claiming to knock him out does not look like a genuine challenge to Crawford, as he believes people with issues would first approach the other and ask him to fight with respect.

What’s your perspective on:
Should Terence Crawford risk his legacy for a fight with Ilia Topuria, or stay undefeated?
Have an interesting take?
As such, everything that Ilia Topuria is doing to make sure their fight happens appears to be just another way for the champion to garner some attention. “If I don’t like somebody and I want to fight them for whatever reason, I would’ve been like, ‘What’s up, man? What do you think about me and you fighting?’ I’m not going to hide behind the keyboard and things like that and be like, ‘I’ll knock this dude out and this and that.’ I think that’s fake,” ‘Bud’ stated.
It seems like Ilia Topuria may have to focus on his UFC career and let his boxing dreams take a backseat because he still has a lot more years to fight in his prime. But what do you think? If the opportunity presents itself, should Terence Crawford take the fight? Will you watch this crossover boxing match? Drop your comment below.
