As the life’s journey of the former super middleweight and light heavyweight champion unfolds, he prepares to release his own documentary titled “S.O.G.: The Book of Ward”. The UFC commentator reflected on Ward’s career choices, applauding his refusal of lucrative offers that would compromise his values as a boxer. And the discussion on the JRE perfectly highlighted that the undefeated boxer’s greatness extends far beyond his accomplishments within the ring.

Joe Rogan is in awe of Andre Ward

In episode #1993 of the JRE, Joe Rogan engaged in a conversation with Josh Dubin, a civil rights attorney. After nearly two hours of discussion, the topic of parenting came up, and Dublin openly shared that Andre Ward served as his parenting inspiration.

“Some of the best parenting advice I got was from Andre Ward. He’s ten years younger than me.”, said Dubin.

Seizing the trail of praise, the UFC commentator chimed in, lauding the boxing sensation. He exclaimed, “Another great example. That’s the guy that has gone through the fire, right? This is the guy that has built character through struggle and through accomplishment. And that’s why he’s that guy.”

Further extolling the 39-year-old boxing icon, Rogan continued, “Even his response when Canelo knocked out [Sergey]Kovalev, and they offered him a big money fight with Canelo, while he’s still in his athletic prime, [Ward] says ‘I think I serve boxing better as a commentator.’ This is the guy, you know, they’re probably throwing millions of dollars at him… And he’s like, ‘You know what? I think I did it. I’m done. I won gold medal in Olympics, I won two division world champion. That’s it. Undefeated. That’s it.'”

Andre Ward’s greatness surpasses the ring, portrayed in his documentary chronicling his journey from Oakland to the International Boxing Hall of Fame. Overcoming substance abuse, parental loss, drug dealing, and teen pregnancy, Ward’s resilience and triumphs set him apart.
