Bare Knuckle Fighting Championship President, David Feldman made an appearance in the broadcaster’s booth last night after the co-main event of KnuckleMania 4, the promotion’s marquee event held at Peacock Theater in Downtown Los Angeles. Feldman told the audience that they were about to make “the biggest announcement in BKFC history.” The announcement? A video of UFC megastar Conor McGregor, in which the bombastic Irishman told the audience that he has become part owner of the BKFC.

McGregor announced that his company, McGregor Sports and Entertainment, has acquired a minority stake in the BKFC. And MMA GOAT contender Demetrious Johnson tipped his hat to McGregor, comparing him to one of the most famous men in the world.

Becoming the part owner of the BKFC, of course, is just another feather in Conor McGregor’s business empire. This led former UFC and reigning ONE Flyweight champion, Demetrious ‘Mighty Mouse’ Johnson, to praise the Irishman’s business acumen and successes, comparing him to Hollywood superstar Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson.

“I feel like Conor McGregor is kind of like the MMA Dwayne Johnson; anything this man touches, it turns to gold. He touches a bar: Irish Forged Stout, it turns to gold. He touches Proper No. 12 whiskey, it turns to gold. The man jumps in a movie with Jake Gyllenhaal in Roadhouse, it turns to gold,” he said while speaking on his YouTube channel.

However, the former UFC champion sounded a note of caution for the Irishman, wondering if his BKFC venture will turn out as successful as much as some of his other business ventures. “Now he’s touching bare knuckle fighting does it turn to gold, or does it turn to sh**? We’ll find out later,” he added.

The Irishman owns a bevy of businesses, including a successful bar in his hometown of Dublin, a media company: ‘TheMacLife’, as well as fitness and apparel brands. Not to mention his liquor brand, Proper No. 12, the majority share of which he and his partners sold for over $600 million in 2021. While McGregor’s entry into BKFC was much appreciated, his absence from the event did bug a few fans.

Why was Conor McGregor not present at KnuckleMania 4?

Conor McGregor had attended BKFC 56 last year, which saw Mike Perry defeat Eddie Alvarez and continue his winning run in the promotion. ‘Mac’ was impressed by what he saw and spoke highly of the event. He even got into the action as he faced off with ‘Platinum’ following his victorious victory over Alvarez.

This time around, however, and with such a huge announcement on the cards, McGregor’s absence was quite conspicuous. The reason behind his absence, however, is most probably because of his upcoming fight. The former two-division champion is, after all, focused on his much-awaited comeback in the UFC octagon after three years of inactivity.

After nearly a year of uncertainty, it was finally announced by Dana White at UFC 300 earlier this month that ‘Notorious’ will face Michael Chandler in a welterweight bout at UFC 303 on June 29, which will cap off the UFC’s annual International Fight Week.
