Cormier recently appeared on ESPN’s ‘First Take’ alongside Stephen A. Smith. During their chat, the pair discussed Cormier’s list of the top five fighters of all time. This list has now got the former UFC heavyweight on the receiving end of severe backlash from the fans.

Fans ridicule Daniel Cormier for top five fighters list

Daniel Cormier’s top five fighters in order were as follows- Floyd Mayweather Jr., Khabib Nurmagomedov, Muhammad Ali, Georges St-Pierre, and Amanda Nunes. While Cormier had his justifications for the names and their rankings, he could not convince the fans of the same. Fans trolled the 43-year-old for the names he included as well as for the ones he did not.

Boxer Ryan Garcia commented, “The worst list known to mankind.”

“Never expected such a trash take from DC,” wrote another fan. Another disapproving fan said, “Dont know what kind of dr*gs @dc_mma is smokeing, but he should stop ASAP.” Another wrote, “Cormier still concussed from bones head kick.”

Several fans brought up names that did not make the list, including boxing legend Mike Tyson. One such fan wrote, “He left Anderson Silva off his list…. therefore his list is irrelevant.” Former UFC champion Henry Cejudo said, “No Triple C, no Pac-Man Jon jones. This is bias at its finest.” Another fan said, “Y’all asking why Daniel Cormier ain’t put Jon jones on his top 5 be real😂.”

Others had problems with the ranking. One fan said, “How Ali isn’t #1 is beyond me. @dc_mma has taken too many hits to the head.” Another commented, “I can’t believe this chump put Muhammad Ali at number three on his list. Just the disrespect!!!!”

Many fans accused Cormier of bias towards his teammates. “An analyst is supposed to be realistic and non biased. DC clearly isn’t either in this segment,” wrote one fan. “Absolute clown for putting Khabib on there,” wrote another. “Hey DC… who are the 5 fighters of all time? DC lists 3 of his friends and 2 people to make the boxing community happy 😂🤦🏻‍♂️,” observed another fan.

Several fighters criticized Cormier for biased commentary

While Daniel Cormier is currently under fire for his top 5 fighters list, he has received backlash for biased commentary too. In late 2021, UFC lightweight Justin Gaethje accused the Olympic medal winner of biased takes on the commentary table. “I think he knows that he should be in an unbiased mindset when he’s doing this, and I would hope that’s important to him,” Gaethje said.

Former UFC bantamweight champion and fellow commentator Dominick Cruz also gave DC the thumbs down for commentary. “When it comes to DC, I usually mute it,” Cruz continued, “From my experience, he doesn’t do the homework. He wants to get in and out, get the job done, make his money.”

These accusations of bias usually come up when Cormier’s friends or teammates are fighting. They came up when the news of DC being on the UFC 280 commentary team came out. Several fans expected biased commentary from DC toward teammate Islam Makhachev.
